Can confirm some light sleet here too Nick. Remember the main band should start to stall and slow down the current NE movement as the LP moves toward the mainland. -
(Happy Christmas) Both raintoday and netweather (WS6) radar showing that i should be under some sort of ppn but nothing falling from the clouds yet, i can just make out the moon so the cloud cover is still thin. Temp has been on the up over the past hr or so... currently 1.9°C rate +0.60°/hr

LOL Like that one Andy, for the 3 day forecast i try and do for my site - I might just include that in the near future!

Great scenario isn't it! 0.7°C (stable) for the past few hrs. Radar watching for the past 3 hrs, very slow in movement but things are developing. Be it rain sleet or snow its been a good session on the radar! Going to walk the dog in a hour, with a little bit of luck ill see Father Christmas and ill report back with any sleet / snow! Happy Christmas everyone

Just nearly fell over on the ice outside - slippers and ice! Patio still has snow from last nights brief dusting. Been looking at some true colour satellite images, the link below is a classic, from today - even the clouds are steering away from the Midlands!! (click on 250m for full res) http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/subsets/?subset=Europe_2_01.2009354.terra.1km -
Snow here too, starting to settle on the patio. I have put up a live video feed for the snow on my website, you can see it falling easy. (link in sig)

Evening all. Down to -4.7°C here now. Some weak ppn just to the north, slowly heading SSW. I may just clip some of that in a hour or so! -

Hi xanadu, Type in postcode in the box to the right of 'Postcode Zoom' click Fav (again to the right) The box you can move around with the mouse gets bigger if you hold shift and 'pull it' with the mouse for a specific zoom. Working today in Smethwick (Nr Birmingham, West Midlands)13:20 - 13:40 a brief but quite potent snow shower passed by. Currently clear and cold -1.9°C (Cheslyn Hay- South Staffs) -
Can agree AJ - A bit on the breezy side within the past 15 mins... ..Must be bad the dog don't even want to go out, i do lol!
-
Stormboy: Either hold the 'shift' key over the zoom box get bigger or use the first 3 digits of your postcode in the 'postcode zoom' area... (use your full postcode for personal use) Hope that helps.

Good evening everyone. Lightning detection has picked up rapidly over the past few hours, listened on med. wave radio and sure enough you can hear the snap crackle and pop! Squall lines looking to form for a brief time across western part of the UK mainland, i may even just clip part of it here in the north Mids. Current lightning situation, thanks to: http://andvari.vedur.is

This might be of use too. Data from CWOP / ARPS Many stations are listed on the link: http://mm.aprs.net/map.cgi?zoom=1&click.x=112&click.y=77&lat=51.4691425&lon=0.8704375&map=ukcentrl.mp&geo=&black=0&range=3&last=1&maplist=master.txt&width=640&call=*&height=480 Link is a copy & Paste. Same rules as my first post, look for the station history.

You could try searching weather underground. Use the link below and on the right (Select a Location) type London, you will find some stations there, click on the area nearest and you will see a window with the station in blue, click that then you will get to the data area, use the 'weather station history' section to find what your looking for. http://www.wunderground.com/wundermap/ Weather Station History Link: http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=IGREATER11 Hope this is of some help.

The Space Shuttle is go for launch in a few hours. Click link below for live video: http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/ Quote from the news:- Endeavour had been scheduled for liftoff Saturday night, but a severe lightning storm at the pad Friday raised concerns that some critical systems might have been damaged. Lightning struck 11 times near the pad.

Evening all. Breeze has just picked up here to take the edge off the heat. 22.0c still. Main reason for the post was to say how much cloud has developed over the last 2 hours, Ac clouds at sunset now some convection is starting. Latest Radar NW is showing ppn on the past 3 frames - (not a anaprop) 30 miles or so to the south. IR Radar shows it well.

The Eurosprite Blog has many images and video over the past few years. Maps too to show how far they were away. http://eurosprite.blogspot.com/

Quickly raced back from work this afternoon (at 30mph!) to grab a few photos before the deluge of rain from a storm that passed overhead. I was taking the photos at around 17:00 looking to the south south west of my location on the radar The storm lasted a good two hours but the majority of the activity was 5 or so miles to the east, never the less its been one of the best storms i have seen in a few years and was not expecting much let alone two hours! Slowly cleared away to the north north east with a bit of mammatus showing Sunset

Storm/convective Discussion 27th June >>
LeeKay replied to Ross B's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
Was nice to hear a few distant rumbles of thunder a couple of hours ago. Clouds overhead do look unstable, over the past 30 mins large drops of rain have fell and quickly evaporated. A couple of images to show the clouds - first off the weathercam and a second wide angle dslr. The weathercam is located in the plantpot to the lower left of the second image! -

Wont be long AJ till you get the cloud break. It broke here around 5 mins ago and like Phil said can see the convection taking place now. -

Just had a nice image from my weather cam. Made a dash outside with the camcorder but ended up just a low scud cloud, woke me up a bit anyway! -

AJ - Iam underneath one of the 'white areas' on the radar currently (ws6) Its a downpoar to say the least. Quite surprised there is very little to no wind at all as it was breezy before the heavy rain started, definitely raining stair rods!! Temp now down from 22.9°C to 18.2°C (falling rate 2.24° / hr) -
Afternoon all. Heavy rain here now. Plenty of static being picked up on the radio (MW) Also my strike alert has been giving amber warning bleeps for the past 15 mins or so... Temp has dropped from 22.9°C to 19.4°C
