Winds risen dramatically in about 20 mins here. Check out the chart on CHIMET>
http://www.chimet.co.uk/%28S%28kwqz4uqukavfyy551nbihu2j%29%29/wind.aspx
Looks like the fun begins for my area, or it could just be a squall line crossing the area.
-
is that a trampoline!!
Looks like one to me. Certainly very much bigger than an umbrella.
-
temp continuing to rise in north london, 10.8 now.
Looks like the rain got into my weather station. if not I need to WORRY!
It is currently reading 38C. Please tell me, should I believe it?

Selsey again ??
Well I hope it isn't Bognor again. One tornado in a lifetime is enough for me.

Look at the tail on that Bugger.....Bloody horrendous,There's your months worth of rain. Crazy ,Just crazy now.
That;s a very worrying projected storm system, The strongest part of the jet must be right on top of us at 1.00am later just to speed things up.
Estofex level 1 warning...Possible Tornado event.
Jason, I would have liked to click Like This for the post. However as that wind chart for 00:00 onward tomorrow shows an 80mph winds over me then I am not sure I like THAT!
I don't think I want to be in that purple area for the winds. Can I opt out please? And YES, those charts have finally got me worried.

Its a shame most of this action was not implemented months ago..Same old SAME OLD.Wait till the worst has happened and then deal with it.
I wonder! Are they getting worried about the 2015 elections. Would they just say this is just exceptional one in a 100 year weather if they had been elected this year?
Knightrider said. "Who's getting worried yet?" Not me. well not YET anyway.

Not buying downgrades until this thing has fully cleared. Localised downpours could see substantially increased gusts that could cause significant damage.
I agree with this. It is the squalls that will cause any problems not the mean wind speeds.

This might sound weird, but just been outside and it is muggy out there
That happened in '87. Went from very cold to warm in space of an hour. I stress this WONT be like '87 storm though, just a feature of low pressures coming from warmer latitudes.

I plan on staying up to see what happens - won't be venturing outside though!
Me too snow raven. Hubby will think I am mad as I WILL be watching the Bognor webcam until high tide has passed at least.

yep. Hacking down now, just did the lunchtime dash.
Greater Anglia tweeted about Service tonight, encouraging customers to complete journeys as soon as possible.... eeep.

Not sure about that "ticket restrictions removed until close of service" part. Looks like they are planning to close early.

Been watching it since 10 am. Tide's gone right out, but is back to high tide at 23:30 tonight just as the winds hit. Poor old Bognor - I'd move that boat.
I'm not going to take the dogs out today, just on a lead around the garden (for 'business' not pleasure) and then going to stay in and make some more candles in case we need them.
Hi Icene. I would say that is a good itinerary for today. Tried to take the dog out about 2:30pm yesterday. Door opened, he stepped back and dug his heels in, tail down and ears back. LOL. Had to wait until it was dark to walk him as it had quietened down then but he didn't like the heavy rain combined with the strong winds earlier. Had to drag him out this morning again. We appear to be getting a small window of lighter rain soon and only F6 gusting F7 at the moment so he may go out for the last time around 2:30 today. After that he will be let loose in the garden on his own. He does do his business pretty quickly in this weather. LOL.

Very heavy rain here, but not too windy at all really ,the rain is very persistent hasn't stopped all morning .I know the storm isn't here yet but I have to say I was expecting it too be much windier then this .
It WILL be much windier. Once the storm arrives but that wont be until around 7-8:00pm in your area with the worst of the winds through the night.

As sea states are predicted to be 'high or very high' at daybreak tomorrow, west of about Eastbourne, does anyone know any good location for wave watching in that area? I don't mean too far west - perhaps Portsmouth being the western limit? I wouldn't do Portsmouth itself.
Just in case I wake in the dark tomorrow morning and feel the urge to drive there...
You could save yourself a drive and watch a good webcam. Bognor one is good from the pier.

look at the speed of those clouds in the jet streak to the south west!
Yes, and that I think is what will hit us tonight.
-
Why is sky calling this storm a three pronged onslaught? What do they mean by that?
Probably because it is rain, wind and snow in areas too.

probably just my ridiculous sense of humour but I found David "I think I'm Winston Churchill" Cameron's speech this morning really amusing."The weather is being fought by the military"Stop or we shoot! Take that, damned storm! Bang!http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-26183880there's this one yesterday but there was another one nearby last week as well.
Many thanks for the answer JJ and I agree about the speech.

Hi AllJJ1 - sorry to hear Southernman is in hospital - are you going to be OK for tomorrow's stormfest?Hi PP,Sounds like you've been really busy, I hope you didn't have much more trouble with the water issues you were having a few days ago.Southernman has been in and out of hospital for over a week now they are letting him go again this afternoon just in time for the storm but he still doesn't sound well to me, I haven't seen him for days as I was too unwell to go to the hospital and visit him.Truth to tell I am a little bit miserable as I had new medication which is meant to be making me feel better but I still feel too ill to be out of bed much, maybe it'll start working soon.I wonder if the volcano will make any difference to our weather?Anyway I'm spending the day glued to sky news and netweather for information about the storm. Its calm here at the moment, no wind, no rain, just very gloomy and chilly but I heard that the rain has already reached the south-west.Stay safe everyone.
What volcano is that? Love volcanoes.

Damn it! x-( OH wont take me to the south coast for valentines dinner... says he's not putting me in the path of the storm. He thinks im nuts... lolIt's suddenly becoming rather windy...
LOL. Accept that he loves you a lot! That is worth more than any storm. You will probably get it wild enough overnight anyway.

As I thought, it's because we could see a little over 70mph inland... deffo some probs I fee tomorrow morning lucky it's not a work day (for most)
70 mph inland is a lot worse for the effects than the same on the coast because the coastal areas are more used to such winds and by now anything that is going to be flattened this year will most likely already be down on the coast. Be careful folks and fortunately for our area the worst of it is likely to be overnight.

Walked the dog earlier. He didn't want to go out as it was already gale force 8 and heavy rain. I opened the door, he backed up, tail down and ears back! Had to coax him out with a boot (a gentle one ) shoving his backside. We were out five minutes as he did his business in record time then turned for home, .... much to my relief. It is already horrible out and the worst of the wind and rain has yet to come.

A good webcam of the beach at Bognor, likely to be interesting at high tide tonight 23:25.

February 9th and on the South Coast here today I have found greenfly on my roses! Couldn't believe it! Is this a record? Also saw a bumblebee out and a ladybird having a walkabout.

I'm hoping the impending galeDoesn't wash up a big whaleIt's not that windy here in FolkestoneBut tomorrow things will get in motionI'll go to watch the big waves crashingWhile around me the rain is lashingMy awful contribution to the weather ditties! Not a bad day here, up to 9c with some sunshine...shame it isn't going to be repeated tomorrow when we can actually enjoy it!
Hello Lottie, another SACRA member I see. You must be as sick of the rain with no snow as I am. I have daffodils, crocus, and even azaleas and still some of last years flowers still blooming in the garden. Crazy weather. Not winter, just a very long autumn!

And I thought I was bad with just a glass of wine. it is however red, 14% Shiraz. Luverly! No idea about my liver either but as I usually have a glass of red every night maybe not so good. LOL. Not worrying as storm might get me before the liver does.
