    Lights keep flickering here too. Just back to the gusts we've had all evening.

    I think the squall line hit us 5 - 10 mins ago - was scary for a few minutes. Been very windy all evening, but the noise it made for a few minutes was frightening. Quite exposed here on the coast.

    And now seems to have gone W out to sea. Still heavy rain though.

    Yes I'm in Ainsdale. Initially storm seemed to be passing just SW of us - Formby maybe? - but now seems to be intensifying rapidly..

    Just now beginning to calm a little but still windy.

    Wind gusts here for the last 30 minutes here have been the strongest I have heard all evening. Unable to sleep for the noise.

    Just had 4 flashes of lightning and very loud thunder here, about 2-3 minutes apart to the SW of me. No precipitation at that time. Then heavy sleet 10 minutes later for about 2 minutes. Now seems clear again.

    Passed over to the NE now but can see more anvils to the SW. Sun out between clouds.

    Ainsdale Southport Merseyside - storm just arrived - lightning every minute. Now pretty much overhead. Travelling from SE.

    Good storm here from3am - 3.45 am. Lots of IC and CG ligtning. Southport, Merseyside.

    Been snowing heavily in Southport for well over an hour now - visibility bad on the roads and sticking well.

    Can confirm, Lady Penelope - some quite loud bursts of thunder now - cloud building in all directions - Southport.

    I haven't got a phobia about t-storms, but I don't like being woken by "seeing" a flash of lightning through my eyelids when asleep. This because I WAS scared of them when I was little, and used to imagine a wizened, very scary old man's face every time the lightning flashed. My Mum was v scared of them, as her house was hit by a thunderbolt when she was a child, and I picked up her tension. I still would not go out in a storm, but enjoy watching them. My 3 sons, brought up by me, love them! Ali

    Had 2 overhead CG strikes here this morning in Southport, Merseyside. First CG strike woke me up, followed by deafening thunder,second strike I saw hit the fields nearby. Was raining heavily but no more thunder or lightning after that. Ali
