  1. Still getting a good light show from my bedroom window, looking out to sea. Thats around 3 hours of activity for us this evening.
  2. Storm gone out to sea now where it seemed to re energise electrically for a while.......still raining and can see an odd flash of lightning from it. Fantastic evening for us.
  3. Been outside watching the amazing light show. Only came in 5 mins ago when torrential rain and winds picked up. Still lots of activity going on.
  4. Cracking storm just gone over us in Ainsdale, We are S of Southport and N of Liverpool. Storm travelled more or less E to W, unusual direction here. We usually have West winds most often, sometimes Southern Lightning looked like strobe at times, very frequent.
  5. Chris as I drove around 1.45 pm from dry but cloud building Ainsdale to Birkdale, (and then on to Kew) there was evidence they had just had a very heavy downpour. Couple of miles can make all the difference.
  6. Just got in from shopping.....had .torrential rain here and a good few rumbles of thunder. Raining for well over an hour. Easing now but plenty more dark cloud around. Saw some lovely cloud formations as I left home earlier.
  7. Feels tropical and steamy outside now after that storm and rain. Sun very strong but dark clouds bubbling up to S and E
  8. My view N of the storm that’s gone over us and is Lytham way now.
  9. Very heavy rain here now after some small hail for about 30 seconds. Lovely rolling thunder and saw 3 CG strikes very clearly when I was still outside standing in the spotty rain.
  10. Rain stopped, lots of dark broken clouds coming up from South. Very fast moving. View to directly North of me taken from living room (minding grandson)
  11. First rumbles of thunder heard from dark clouds to SEE of me.
  12. Been outside for 45 minutes. Can see fantastic lightning tonthe W of me (over the sea), to the East (Ormskirk and Manchester way), south and north too! Some lovely rolling thunder. No strobe show like some of you, but lovely all the same. Gusty wind getting up now.
  13. Seeing first elevated flashes to my SSE. Going out to garden now to watch.
  14. Although we missed any prolonged storm last night, I did see some very nice lightning. As others have said, pink, purple and at times, greenish lightning. I recall a huge storm to hit Southport in late May/early June 1983. I was in hospital at the time, on the ante natal ward expecting my first son, with severe pre eclampsia. (I was in for a long time). The windows were very tall and high so we couldn't really see out of them. The Lightning was silently flashing almost constantly, but little Thunder, from about 8.30 pm. It was scary. Then a huge storm hit about 11pm with golf ball sized hail. I think the storm lasted about an hour. The midwives brought some hail in to show us! Shortly after it had passed the doorbell for admissions kept going (it was only a small cottage hospital) as women were going into labour. 2 ladies on the 8 bed ward also started off, with waters breaking. The midwives said it was common after a storm and they thought it was to do with atmospheric pressures. Clearly, never forgotten......
  15. Seeing some lovely overhead stuff and then flashes from over the sea in the distance. Beautiful.
  16. Getting interesting again here now. Can see flashes from the strikes off Liverpool and deep thunder. Just had a fairly close CG. Very gusty, still warm. Clouds moving at a pace. Still no rain.
  17. Can also see the strikes out to sea from my window. We are about half mile from the beach.
  18. Some nice strikes virtually overhead. Just a few sporadic fat drops of rain. Ainsdale is between Formby and Southport. Still very warm with gusty breeze.
  19. Very strange to be sitting here hearing the occasional rumble of thunder with the sounds of geese flying overhead....
  20. We definitely had at least one CG that struck something very close to us......now blue skies and sunshine.
