The low is slow moving but expected to move on a general southward track overnight and continue to weaken. It is not expected to redevelop into a cyclone. HEAVY RAIN currently falling over the southern Darwin-Daly District and northern Victoria River District is expected to continue and may lead to significant stream rises and flooding of low lying areas. Locally damaging wind gusts up to 100 km/h are also possible due to squally showers in this area. At the same time a very chilly air mass behind a powerful cold front will collide with a warm and rather moist air mass in place over the South. The interaction of these two very different air masses is likely to spark intense thunderstorm development by this afternoon. Hail, high-winds and tornadoes will be a threat from eastern Texas east to the Carolinas.
