Dont dismiss this out of hand. I actually had a call from the pre-school about my daughters mood this morning - very clingy. However based on the below link its more likely to be the humidity than any particular clairvoyance.

My little one has been a bit more grouchy then usual the last few days thinking about it.

I was up Pen-Y-Fan in January this year and seen several then in the late afternoon. The temp was probably around -8 that day. Have tried to upload a picture I took but I'm having some problems with it

Ok guys I think us lot in Glos. county and surrounding aread shouldn't be expecting more than 5cm now. As it is tilting it is losing intensity quite a bit. Plus it is further East which begs the question of whether it will even reach here...
Which radar u looking at? Seems to be intensifying ever so slightly. It'll be over Glos?/Bristol area around 2am at its current rate

Thanks andymusic!

A little :lol: , but now I've read through a few websites and books I'm starting to understand it all better now. You have to really think hard to take it in though

My thinking on time (from a totally amateur viewpoint) is that its just a form of measure used by humans. The universe doesn't 'know' what time is does it?
I did start reading A Briefer History of time a few months ago then just stopped for some reason. I'll have to dust it off and start again methinks.

Mr Roo says,
1) Theory tells you how long they survive. Also timing equipment is apparently pretty good: Mr Roo used to be able to time something to within a fraction of a nanosecond, with off the shelf kit!
2) You don't necessarily detect it directly: it will decay into other particles and you detect those. Because Hadron is in a certain energy/state, there's a tell tale combination of particles it can decay into and when you see those you know you've got it, but it will take a lot of data and a long period of analysis to see it.
What are Mr. Roo's views on the following?
1) what collided to cause the Big-bang if there was no matter, atoms, elements etc before it?
-
On one of those LHC videos a scientist mentions that the particle(s) produced from this will only last around a billionth of a billionth of a sec. Now i'm not saying he's wrong but ;
1) how can you possibly measure that sort of time?
2) how do you detect a particle which lasts that short a time?
It's utterly fascinating.

I was sat watching TV about 1 and sounded like it was blowing a gale outside for about a minute. would that have been it?

Mr_data - just out of curiosty have you got the indices for winters of 1947 and 62-63?

This is just a query rather than a question with a definate answer, if that makes sense?!
Basically I was thinking the other night about hurricanes and there formation etc, and this got me thinking ;
Back when Pangea was the only landmass (and the rest was ocean) could hurricanes have travelled almost half way around the world and continued to grow in strength, so that they would hit land as some sort of superstorm? I dont know if that is even possible in theory? Just a little thought that I had and was hoping someone with some knowledge on things like this could set me straight.
ta very much

Thats according to NOAA's records

1886 was the last time two CAT-5's made landfall. SO I've read on the BBC site

I've watched the situation in the USA for the last few days and all the warning areas etc have all been pretty much bang on. Now this is the silly part, surely anyone who is out there who had access to the doppler radar could see where the storms are forming and (by being in the warning areas) chase a storm for a lot cheaper then what you guys are gonna spend?
This post isnt a dig or anything like that, its just my over-simplistic take on it all
