Cool, dry and cloudy but windy now with the strongest gust so far at 32MPH. I would expect it to be cooler but there is obviously some warm air pool ahead of the main front. Rain is expected by 11 tonight and the temperature has only dipped to 15C.

Currently under a blanket of cirrus so the temperature is slightly up on yesterday at 11C. Had a lovely day in Birmingham with sunny skies all day and warm at 20C. No tornado though.

Sunnyand clear despite thick mist on the moors. Colder than yesterday - obviously - it's still only 10C! I'm going to Birmingham today on a school trip so I wonder if I will see any remains of the tornado.

It's been a lovely late summer day today - in fact - the last day of summer. There were sunny skies all afternoon with a high of 20C. Looks like there are two more fine days to come. Good for some but not for the gardens.

Oxford: Cool and cloudy. Not seen the sun all day and we even had light drizzle for an hour this morning. BBC forecast made no mention of this whatsoever.

I agree with you. The BBC said a cloudy start would give way to plentiful autumn sunshine. It was a cloudy start alright but no sun has made an appearance. At least it isn't overly cold with a high earlier of 18C.

Between 9.00pm and 9.30 or just after, there was torrential rain, very strong winds causing the rain to go horizontally, and to flashes of sheet lightning. No thunder though. Impressive! The BBC say that the tornadoes that whirled around Northern Ireland and England were unsuaul but were to become marginally more frequent.
