  1. Between 9.00pm and 9.30 or just after, there was torrential rain, very strong winds causing the rain to go horizontally, and to flashes of sheet lightning. No thunder though. Impressive! The BBC say that the tornadoes that whirled around Northern Ireland and England were unsuaul but were to become marginally more frequent.

  2. Woke up to a glroious start with clear blue skies and sunshine. Stayed sunny until 10.00 then clouded over and became increasingly dull. The wind picked up by lunchtime and it rained very heavily for an hour but is now coming down steadily with gusts of 35MPH. Current temperature 9C after a high of 16C. Brrr.

  3. Oxford: Cool and cloudy. Not seen the sun all day and we even had light drizzle for an hour this morning. BBC forecast made no mention of this whatsoever.

    I agree with you. The BBC said a cloudy start would give way to plentiful autumn sunshine. It was a cloudy start alright but no sun has made an appearance. At least it isn't overly cold with a high earlier of 18C.
