  1. I know that for European people Spain is the land of party and hot temperatures, but it is totally false. In the mountains of the Sistema Central, in the west part of these mountains (mountains with 2200-2500masl) we have so much Snow sometimes 450cm, and in the Sierra Nevada (Mountains among 3000-3400 masl, South of the country) we usually have more than 400cm and some years more than 6 meters. Pirineos (with more than 3000masl and Cordillera Cantabrica (it is close to the sea, with elevation about 2500 and 2600 masl) have high Snow levels..some years more than 6 or 7 meters. Greatings from Madrid
  2. Hi mates Villalba (Madrid, 917msnm 60.000 inhabitants) Temperature min: 7,8º (+1,2º) Temperature: 7,9º Madrid (river zone, 600-625msnm) Temperature min: 8,4º Another extreme hot day....we have a +11,2º of maximun temperatures anomalie since first day of October.....incredible. It is Almost the same average of July.
  3. Beatifull Greece. Beatifull country and beatifull people
  4. Historic Record of high temperature in Madrid 30,2º (3º more than the before one) in my town there was yesterday a new record too 27,7º (2º more than the before one). Incredible September and Octuber. Ive never seen it before...usually in this time my mountains (up to 2000 meters) should be with snow....but there isn´t...
  5. In Spain we are living the hottest end of the summer in years with some records of high temperatures. Since first day of September we have tempratures so high for this season....and in the diagrame it is looks like havent got final.... Hot and dry, one of driest september in the history too...It situation is very dangerous cause we need rain, in the end of November the "dark frosts" coming here and if the land is still dry it would be a disaster for the agriculture...... Yesterday I took 26,4 degrees when the average is 16 degrees. I can see too that in Britain you have a big hot spell...but in a few days the autum is coming to your country
  6. Thanks mates! Yes mate, I am waiting for the Winter Yes, Spain has so heavy contrasts, you can be at a desert in the SE, at a cold steppes in some places at the center/north and you can be in a big forests of beeches. Cheers
  7. Hi British friends! Well, here I have some picts of the North Castilla (Spain) of this End of the Summer (the warmest and dry end of the Summer in years).
  8. In my town: 2009-2010: 14cm (January) 2010-2011: 11cm (March) Record that I have seen in my town (since 1994): 29cm In Madrid: 2009-2010: 6-10cm 2010-2011: 4-6cm Record that I have seen in Madrid: 16-20cm Record on the XIX century: 110cm (November of 1904) In my father´s town (Las Navas del Marqués, Ávila, 1300masl): 2009-2010: 52cm 2010-2011: 32cm In Spain the last December was normal...there were some days that I had maximun temperatures below 0º but I had warm maximun temperatures too, so it was normal on the average. It was so good cold spell in Spain, there were important snowfalls in Madrid, Segovia, Avila, Salamanca, Burgos and all the North of my country. Good cold spell. Greatings!
  9. Hi mate, well some towns of that area had 18-20 degrees, that area is not so hot, sometimes takes 28-30 degrees but it is not normal. I love UK, and the Spaniards love your country I hope so...but these frosts nights are "normal" (maybe 10 or 11 per Summer) every summer in that area of Spain. Greating from Madrid
  10. The night of 27 of August was cold in the most part of the Center Spain. Some towns of Soria, Burgos, León and Segovia had minimun temperatures some degrees below 0º, this part of Spain has a typical continental climate, there are towns between 1100-1400 m.a.s.l in valleys, on big plains, and close to big forests. Greatings from Madrid
  11. I think that this island is the prettiest one...incredible. I am still remember when I worked there. Thanks
  12. Yes, the forest is at 1000/1200 m.a.s.l (3200-3900 feet). This kind of vegetation just grew up at 900-1000 m.a.s.l in Madrid (in the north of Spain at 500 meters and in the south at 1500 meters). Up to 1000 meters (3200 feet), there are forests of Pinus Sylvestris (I think that you call it Scottish pines), Oaks and Beech (It there isn´t so much here in Madrid, just there are in the more humedity valleis) Greating from Madrid
  13. Hi guys! Yesterday morning me with four friends more were walking in the Madrid´s forest. The temperature was 9 degrees at 10:30 AM

I could see in the Spanish TV that the cold spell in UK is so hard...well in the TV said that the last November like this in UK was in 1993...but is the TV..the TV everywinter said that is the coldest winter since 10 years. Some temperatures at 22:34 (Spanish hour, 21:34 British hour) in Spain Cotos (Madrid) 1800masl: -13º Burgos City (North of Castilla y León880 masl: -4º Segovia City (Castilla y León) 1010masl: -3,2º Valladolid City (capital city of Castilla y León)680masl: -2,3º Villalba (Madrid) 917masl: 0º Las Rozas (Madrid) 700 masl: 0,8º Zaragoza airport200 masl: 1º Madrid City 685masl: 2,5º Bilbao airport: 61masl: 3º Granada City 650masl: 4º Sevilla 44masl: 9,2º Málaga City 25masl: 9,8º Barcelona 18masl: 9,9º Since tomorrow untill Tuesday night, there will be snowfalls in some places of the Center Spain (Madrid, Valladolid, Segovia, Ãvila, Salamanca etc) In my city, close to Madrid we are below 4º degrees since Thursday..it is a bit strange because it is often in the end of December and January.

  17. A inusuall snowfall in November of 1904 in the Center of Spain leaves 150cm in the center of Madrid city. It was snowing three days and in the mountains of Madrid thousand and thousand of trees fell down with above 3 or 4 meters of Snow. That Snowfall was the biggest in the last 200 hundred years in Madrid and probably in the modern history of the city. November of 1904 was increible, Road, Trains were block. There was another cold November in the XIX Century: November 1862 50cm in the center of the city. Actually in Madrid city is strange to see snowfalls with more than 5/10cm, maybe one per two years. The last big snowfall was in the 80´s with almost 30cm. Since 1990: March 1993 with 10cm December 1996 10/15cm January 1997 10/15cm December 2001 13cm February 2005 15cm February 2006 10cm January 2009 18cm January 2010 11cm And a few snowfalls more with 5/10cm. Maybe one day that November of 1904 come back. I hope so! bye British friends!
