  1. Very dark over towards the hills. Looks like missing here and probably heading sheffield way. Plenty of time yet though for some action
  2. Morning people. Well that is what you call thundery rain yesterday. Could not report on here as I was in the pub . Just had a scan through the thread and noticed the sheffielders report of the amonts of rain. About the same around here. Started at around 5.10pm and absolutley nailed it down. Quite a bit of thunder and lightning as well. Going on reports it sounds like one of the main routes into Chesterfield was flooded again (Hornes Bridge) as of 2007. Measuring the rainfall. Don't know if you can call it a accurate reading, but there was a couple of pint pots on the bench outside the pub and they had around two inch of rain in them (landlords probably put it back into the barrel ) Get ready for the grass to grow fast in the next few days now. OS

  6. Cheers Nigel. I've never noticed anything like em' before so I thought i'd get some snaps and see who knows what they are on here. Looked a nice sunset as well with these types of cloud. Pity we cannot get a clear view of the derbyshire hills from our house as it would have taken a great sunset picture.
  7. Took these high cloud pictures around 20 minutes ago (8.30pm) from our back garden. They are all took with the 'Natural' setting bar the one which was taken with the 'Sunset' setting. I just had to adjust the brighness on the odd one. Anyway. What are they? Cheers OS

  13. It woke me and the missus up. I said to her what the hell was that. Was going to say I bet it was a earthquake but thought that would have been a waste of time. I first thought it was a very strong gust of wind, but with the number of alarms that got set off outside made me think otherwise. Checked the time on the clock (12.57am) so I could have a look this morning on the news or internet to see if it was a earthquake and there it was, all over the news.
  14. All nice, but the first and last one are my faves Skeleton trees don't half bring pictures to life don't they
  15. Cheers for the comments. If the weather is nice on sunday again as they have forecast, we may well have another trip up that way to the Derwent Dam and Suprise View.

  17. They were trying to say - Hurry up, the pub opens in 25 minutes I took it at 11.35 am yesterday. Anyway. Thanks for the kind comments everyone. Looks like tomorrow is likely to be the last day in a while to get these kind of pictures. Sunny and calm
  18. Cheers John. They were taken this morning. I thought with no wind and clear sunny skies it would be a perfect chance to get some reflection shots up at Ladybower with the water still.
  19. A lovely day deserved a trip up to Ladybower Reservoir with the old camera on a frosty morning. Here are some of the pics I took.
  20. Yep. My neck of the woods is Chesterfield. The crooked spire. Nice pictures though

  24. Hi SS Been in the pub today (as it is christmas  ) So not had time to mess with the videos. reason is some are over 100MB in size and all these upload sites only do up to 100 so i'm trying to find somethong that will let me reduce the file size I'll try and sort and show asap and put in the photography section. Cheers
  25. Hi guys. Just arrived back from the Dominincan Republic this morning (friday 21st) from a 2 week holiday. We were there when Olga hit. It did not hit us direct in Punta Cana on the East Coast but wow. It proved to be quite a experience. I tried to talk to one of the dominicans who we got to know during the holiday about the storm, and his face told the story. More unfortunate deaths in a poor region with great people. I have some video / pictures which i will upload soon of the day Olga passed through. (plus many more weather related pictures from our holiday including a Waterspout, which was a incredible sight)
