  1. After a dry and cool morning, have had one moderate shower so far. Looking to the SW and the next big shower is coming, have had 2-3 rumbles from it already.
  2. Hello ppl, not been on for a while, just had a long band of snow showers skim Broseley and caught the North end of Telford at a guess. Had 30 seconds of flurries, nothing else but wind and strong wind at that!!!
  3. Well i dont think the temp has gone above 12 degrees all day!!!! its been wet and windy from the start, i know i prefer the cold but this is taking the micheal!!! had the heating on and wearing tshirt and jumper lol. Long live the effects of global warming lol.
  4. Hey well who made you forum leader? lol Dont worry, im just airing my opinion, not got time to sift through all the threads ya know lol.
  5. Global Warming is a natural thing... It will happen no matter what the world population does. The last Ice Age was caused by global warming... Freshwater from the Icecaps melting into Sea water... thus changing ocean currents. Anyone with an ounce of brain power can work that one out! The government insist we are to blame and should pay for it... in more ways than one. What about the gases from cows/pigs/sheep etc... best not tell the government as they would try and get them to pay tax too lol. Anyway, like i said... its a natural thing, The records the scientists and government go by are from the last 75-100 years or so... so its not very accurate. We get a few hot or wet days out of season and its like a mini panic... ooo ooo its global warming... TOTAL TOSH!!!! You cannot go by 100 year old records and say the world is heating up and its going to get much worse if we dont become 'greener' cut Co2 emissions etc. What about the last time the world warmed up? Man was living in caves and Co2 emissions were marginal compared to what we have today. Man survived the last ice age... he is more than capable of surviving the next one.
  6. Tornado surprise sweeps county A Shropshire man today spoke of his amazement at seeing a 1,500ft “tornado” sweeping across the county during the weekend’s stormy weather. Steve Groves saw the freak weather system from his home in Broseley on Saturday at about 5pm and believes it hit the Ironbridge area. He said: “I watched the rotation get faster and faster and then I could see wisps of cloud towards Ironbridge.” Meanwhile, Shropshire and Mid Wales are set for another week of “atrocious” weather with more torrential rain, thunder and lightning. John Warner, Shropshire Star weatherman, says it will get worse before it gets better. He said: “By Saturday, we could be in for drier weather, but before then, it is going to be a pretty atrocious week.”
  7. Any ide a if those storms in the channel will reach me? or will i get a good night sleep?
  8. Just having that rain now, doesnt seem to be much, just light rain.
  9. WEY HEY its raining in Telford, we have a long thin black cloud over us at the mo, looks quite poten but dont think it will be thundery, The the NW i can see a huge CU over Shrewsbury way... half of which i cant see due to this cloud above us.
  10. Gone quite dark to the West here, have looked at the clouds and its all coming this way... does anyone know if its thundery?
  11. I dont think the storms in the SE will make it this far Blizards mate, the whole system might track towards us but will fragment all the time so we just might end up with a few showers if anything.
  12. I would just like to mention that i have a Sister in Grand Forks, North Dakota. I have just seen on some of the charts that, the area could have possible t-storms/tornadoes. Grand Forks in smack bang in the middle of a big plain... flatter than a blind cobblers thumb, She says they get some great storms there in the Summer months, not quite on the same scale as those further South but still potent nonetheless. If they do get any storms i have asked her to try and get some photos if possible, send them to me and will post them on here. Good hunting PS. Steve
  13. Anyone know what the chances of storms are for Shropshire on Sunday? im thinking about going to Cosford Airshow but no point going if its tipping it down. Many thanks.
  14. By eck!!! what a day of contrast... Most of the morning was warm and sunny, temps in the low 20's... now its more like november. Rain, low clouds, cold winds, Wind has changed direction to a NW'rly. If this is summer id hate to see winter lol.
  15. Im under that mass of yellows and reds Nwest of Birmingham... been raining about 20 mins now, one or two heavy bursts and a cool W Wind... Doesnt seem to be electrified so far...
  16. Looks to be doing the same over the Welsh border too PP, not moving very far if at all. Looks like they are fading anyway. Have had one or two spots of rain... nothing more.
  17. Looking to my West and North West, i cant see the shower cloud as its probably too far away, does look a bit darker out that way though towards the Welsh border. I thought heavy showers were meant to be for central/eastern midlands
  18. Dont think he will be wanting to do that again in a hurry.... hope its a lesson learnt.
  19. Clouds to the left of me clouds to the right, here i am stuck here in blue sky ! lol Looks to be a repeat of yesterday... i.e Storms/heavy showers left right but not centre. We only had a few brief sharp showers but plenty of storms dotted all around.
  20. Brontophobia is one of the most common of all phobias in the world, there are hundreds of thousands if not millions of people out there with Brontophobia of some degree. So you are far from alone Simon, when i was a kid i didnt like to be left alone if a storm was about, i even had my mother come stay in my room if there was one at night. Now though im fine on my own, ill just relax on my bed either reading or whatever. My phobia of thunder has lessened somewhat over the past few years due to me learning more about how thunder is made and about how storm clouds are formed. Today for example... its like April showers here today with a good chance of a rumble or a mini storm, yet i am up and about on my pc doing normal stuff about the house. I still watch the sky from time to time just making sure, but several years ago id be on my bed with the tv on and headphones at the ready. I think my phobia is going... very slowly but i notice improvments each year... Ill probably conquer Brontophobia on my death bed lol knowing my luck !
  21. Same here Damone. I keep seeing in my minds eye me going about my daily business and a storm is raging outside yet i dont have my fingers in my ears or have headphones on. I have been told that if you can imagine yourself getting on with life instead of being beaten by your fear/phobia, you are half way to being cured. I also keep telling myself, i can beat this... though easier said than done, its far from impossible. All i have to do is break the habit, though how i dont rightly know but there just has to be an answer out there. I have seen therapists, had hypnosis, listened to cd's on headphones at night. Nothing seems to work.
  22. Yes Disco-Brarry... Noise can indeed hurt you if the frequency is high enough, it can burst your ear drums... very painful i should imagine. Noises like thunder and loud jets, despite them being very loud, they are not loud enough to do you any damage. Take the noise levels in the average factory, i have worked in several, and before the rules about health and safety came into force, i used to come home with my ears ringing due to the long time i spent in a noisy enviroment. Now my hearing is not as good as it used to be because of it. I agree Biddie... i plan my whole life around thunder, I look forward to late autumn/winter because there is less chance of a storm (though i have known it to thunder on xmas day). Each spring i start wondering what the summer has in store for me, i do that every year. I have noticed that not just in summer but all year round now i find myself thinking about thunder, weather its going to happen or not, can i risk going out for a drink? but what if there comes a storm? I cannot plan anything a few days ahead, just incase there is a storm. I planned to join the army at 18... i thought that by then i would be rid of my phobia but sadly no, cant have a soldier on the battlefield suddenly stop and put his fingers in his ears because of a sudden storm.
  23. Best advice I can give stormraider, is to try and appreciate what nature can do! Its amazing to think that condensation and some collisions of ice and rain drops, can lead to 30,000 degree, million volt sparks, causing sonic booms (thunder)! Next time there is a storm, think whats actually happening, think about the processes going on! And just enjoy it! Well i have tried that, i have known for a number of years what causes thunder but it doesnt help me get over my phobia, i guess im going to have to live with it, if its not going to go in 31 years then its not going at all. I enjoy watching them, always have done... just cannot get over the noise. Come to think of it... its more like a reaction than a phobia which isnt even mine, its my nans ! I have survived 31 years... no doubt ill survive the next 31 too. There are people out there with phobias and fears of everything, from Apples to Zebra's everybody has a phobia/fear of something, no matter how strong or weak the fear/phobia is. Those who deny having any phobia/fear is a liar, we are only human afterall... its natural to be scared of something.
