  1. Hello all, just had a brief shower of snow/graupel not laying but definately there!
  2. woo-hooo!!!!!!! B) :o For the FIRST time this sort-of winter I've woken up to lying snow!! about 3/4 of a cm but snow none the less
  3. the quake was also sensed by my do he started crying about 5mins before.I live in a house that is about 200 years old so it felt like it was going to fall down!!!!
  4. welcome to net-weather twinmum99 how strong was the shaking there? Just heard on the news it was a 4.7!!
  5. yeah how strong was it in peterbro'?The whole house was shaken by it and a big chest of draws nearly fell over!!! we got the roaring too!!!!
  6. A handfull of snowflakes are falling at the mo with a rather more generous helping of rain at the same time. .(damn I guess thats sleet!,oh well I can hope!) 'goes back to watching the lamp-post' P.S I think the people from donny were being sarcastic!!!
  7. great site, loads of good interesting reading! thanks blackdown p.s:blackdown while your here I dont suppose you know if there is an asteriod/meteor activity thread? or is this the only one
  8. surely if you steer a hurricane out to sea it will only gain power!? Hurricanes generally source their power from the sea so when you cause a hurricane to stay over the sea for longer it can take up more condensation thus getting bigger. tho the soot is meant to drop the temp, to my mind all that would happen is the hurricane would get stronger then hit land somewhere else. SHU
  9. Ok, thanks for the tip paul it just get a wee bit frustrating when my fav threads are the model disscusion and the extreme weather threads because they are both a bit frantic at times. Thanks again SHU
  10. How do you get people to talk to you on here? because it seems that only the people with over 3000 posts get any answers from anyone . Im very interested in every aspect of the weather inn the uk and world-wide but every time i need to find somthing out or try to add to a conversation it gets ignored . Im not a stupid person nor do I ask stupid questions but still I get no replies! thanks SHU
  11. hello viking, do you know what sort of implications this situation would have on the world if mt.kelut was to erupt violently?
  12. :o Definately may 5th 2005 :o !! the most violent and frequent overhead lightning that I've ever seen!
  13. Is anyone else having problems decoding any definate (or at least near) answers???
  14. Im not the most 'in the know type' but what i do know is this is probably one of the most beautiful threads I have seen. A good combo of stunning pics of eruptions and well presented info. Well done Viking ps. reminicent of krakatoa(sp?) S.H.U
  15. sprites are the most beautiful form of lightning i have ever seen(in pics anyway).
  16. Im not much of a brain box when it comes to the defineing features of what causes us to get cold winters. My understanding of it is that the sst's and ground temps have a large role to play in the weather we get .....so....... because we have had the wettest summer on record surely all the cold fresh rain water draining to the sea and the coldish weather temps will keep sst's down and play a role in wether we get snow at x-mas or not?! As I said Im only a noob but i think some people will be suprised by the result this december.(probably me!!!)
  17. does that mean it will be a really cold winter? ......i hope it is!!!!!!!!! SHU
  18. I've just had 3....yes 3 T-storms pass overhead. There like busses cos you dont get any then they all come at once (not that im complaining!). SHU p.s do the reports that are posted here go into the storm league?
  19. I've just been in the centre of spalding and have witnessed a well organised and very loud T-storm which seemed to be moving towards p'boro. Lot of lightning and possible funnel(but not sure). good luck spotting SHU
  20. I have just seen 3 beautiful T-storms with high multiple cg's and super loud thunder. be safe SHU
  21. cool pics! hope to see somthing near that later on this summer.......good 'ol imports!
  22. I saw that same funnel when I was on the bus to spalding. It was the first one I have ever seen up close and I have to say that it was breath  -taking!!!!!! TEITS: I have been wondering the same thing recently because i dont think there is anywhere on earth that could beat that number of t'nados per 20 square miles. Mabey we are just sat on a regular convergence(sp) zone!?how or why would have to be left up to the pro's peace SHU
  23. wow :o :o . poor man. I have to say I havn't heard that one before. Does anyone know if there are any pics out there of this phenomenon? S.H.U
