That was my train i was driving that hit the fallen overheads at Boars Head, just outside Wigan.(ice and snow brought them down) Drove straight into them and they were still live. Gave me a great lightning show but damn nearly kacked myself (lol) then the wires settled on top of the train, a bit nervy knowing there is 25,000 volts just inches from your head. Anyway, to cut a long storey short, eventually got all passenger and train crew to safety, left the train on the WCML as unable to move. Had to go and lay protection 300 yards front and rear of the train )when the wires were isolated) and the snow was deep, i'd say at least 10-12 inch. Anyway eventually finished my 10 hour shift (3pm yesterday till 01:11 at 06:00, so bit nackered and peed of with snow at the mo, lol

Thumping it down at Blackpool North for past 10 min. Large 50p size flakes & sticking on roads/paths.

Actually light snow falling mate. Not nearly dense enough to be sticking to anything at the moment apart from the cat. Edit: Bit heavier snow now and starting to resemble a slight dusting..

Radar showing PPN over me at the moment. Not a flake. Temp sat at 0C

Snizzling heavy here now, flakes getting bigger. Sticking to cars. Temp 1.8c.

1st 2 pics look very familiar for some reason . Looks about the same amount we've got here in Norbreck, still coming down lightly but seems to be a bit wet. Sticking every surface apart from roads, pavements patchy now.. Temp now showing 1.2c.. Radar looks to be pepping up above me again. Hopefully some of whatshisnames (with the Everton avatar's) powder

Just shut my lads local High School in Bispham. Montgomery High... unbelievable.... slippery underfoot. No kidding.. Pavements clear and I'm only 500m away fm the school!!!!

Where you posting that radar report for SD. Leyland or Fylde. Temp up to 1.1c here now light light wet snow...

Tell a lie, intensity increased in the last 30 min, road and pavement now covered, radar seems to indicate it fragmenting. hopefully it wont turn to rain.

Just got up... day off, got over an inch fell. Roads clear ATM. Checked security cam and it started sticking about 6 or just after. Not checked radar yet but moderate to heavy at the moment. Temp dropped from 3c at 1am to currently 0.9.. Seems to be the wet stuff as roads and pavements no covering just wet..

Yes mate, drive 156, 150/1, 150/2, 153, 158, the 5 car 180's when we had them, and the disgusting nodding donkeys (142 pacers)..

SD no worries. Used to it missing me all the time. Probably took you to Lytham on Friday as train driver for Northern. Get about the region a lot so get to see the snow on all my routes. Still, would be nice to have some at home. Not expecting nothing here again either over the next couple of days. Its good thundering down the Bolton line though leaving a cloud of snow behind you. Radar stuck on 21:00 hrs,, any one got any idea where the current PP is tracking??

Now't, nill, nada, zilch again here. Grand total of 1mm Friday thawed. ... Er 1 min after it fell.. Radar been showing precip over bpool for hours with nothing falling.

Just started light snowing here on the Fylde coast.

Just started moderate snow here in Norbreck 5 mile north of Blackpool on the coast. Wet snow but sticking to cold surfaces and paths. Is there much hope for us poor folk on the Fylde coast overnight/tomorrow. Been following this thread now since yesterday morning, to say its been up and down is a bit of an understatement. Come on snow, don't skip by us again!!!

Temp dropped to 1.6c here now, absolutely lashing down now with large flakes, starting to stick on some surfaces even though snow still wettish!!

Really heavy wet snow for the past hour here at Norbreck nr Blackpool. 50p size flakes, but to wet to stick. Stopped for 10 min, next wave just starting again now, more sleety this time, temp currently 2.4c. Looking good for you guys to the east/south east of me maybe!!

9.2c at the moment at Norbreck nr Blackpool. Wind gusts of up to 50MPH. Had fair few hours of sunshine, just clouding over now. I dont expect any white stuff tonight, just blustery rain/hail showers!!

Ha, i have printed a high resolution photo of that satellite picture of frozen Britain, even Blackpool shows white, now awaiting to frame it. Sad innit!!! Woke up to a covering here this morning, it must of snowed (very very lightly) from 10am till past midnight here yesterday, but didn't even start to stick until after dark. Now it has all but gone after a slow thaw, i think that's it for us until the next cold spell, even then we will be lucky to get some as Blackpool doesn't normally fare well with snow. Never mind, have got to be happy with what we have had!!

Light snow now falling here as well, very small flakes, sky looks full of it to the South.
