And just like that this spell is over, temperatures are up to 5c and the thaw on what is left from snow and frost cover is well under way. Onto the next chase

Showers seem to dying out as they head inland. Oh well I'd give this cold spell a 6/10. A bit above average mostly for the cold but on the snow front "ok" but needs improvement. Had better. Not as good as the Jan 2013 cold spell here but it's been a nice break from the Atlantic onslaught which we're going to find ourselves back in again soon enough!
Think I'll give it about 7 surprise snow fall, but to be fair I've enjoyed the fog frost low temps cold crisp sunny days. Just wish most of the snow stuck. The mild sector on Tuesday was a big pain in the a r se

Yes a bone chiller it was. Exceptionally icy. Temps this evening are climbing as we see modified air mixing with the cold air off the Irish Sea. Current temp -0.7 degrees.
Are winds expected to turn westerly, this in theory should enhance the risk of snow showers here if the case.
Feels tropical here compared to last night, temps of 0c. I can't see me seeing anymore more snow from this current spell

Radar and nowcast watching.. I think late afternoon/early eve best chance, they may just hug the coast or just stay away from Cumbria. Coastal parts most at risk especially south of Whitehaven.
Shame I'd love some more snow
Back to tonight I don't think I'm gonna go below minus 6

Perhaps temps won't drop too much further close to the coast at least as we pick up a slight wind from the NW.. though inland parts should keep light winds or no wind.
Tomorrow will feel colder than today thanks to more of a winchill though temps will probably be a degree or two higher reducing chance of an ice day for many. Here I'm only expecting a couple of hours or so above freezing though.
Eyes on where snow showers develop.. another interesting day for wintry fans tomorrow.
Will Cumbria see showers again?

Definitely going to an ice day here, I put the mop bucket out in the garden with hot water in this morning at 7am and its just about froze over. I defrosted the car at 10 ready for going to work at 1 and it needs done again

I'm going to see this cold spell through to Fri and then have a little break from it all, pretty tiring this model chasing lol. Back on it towards the end of the month as this Winter certainly does not look over by any stretch, as @cheshire snow has mentioned Feb and in to March look interesting.
Some models still going for a few more flurries/showers in the next 24/48 hours, so one to keep an eye on before the dross of wind & rain returns for a time.

Stunning winter morning, clear skies with snow on the hills intact. Current temp -3 degrees. Had the mild sector not been as wide and also cleared through earlier than it did, much colder mins would have been recorded here.
I'll be watching the temp, see if we can squeeze an ice day..
High chance an ice day in Carlisle, wouldn't be surprised if temp only max -1 degrees.
Yer it's absolutely freezing

The cold front has nearly moved through here, a bit of sleet at best, places without height don't expect much wintriness.
Temps are now dropping down to 2.5 degrees, a nosedive should take place by midnight.
I'm down to 1c but feel boltic out there, it's like a ice rink

Interesting to note current temps, and the affect of the mild sector. Keswick and Carlisle currently recording some of the mildest conditions, above 4.5 degrees, yet Benson and southern england down to -2 degrees, Wick already at -5 degrees, a cold- mild- cold sandwich. Temps in the south will rise here on, once cold front drops through, a marked drop in temps here.
Yep all snow has just about gone at feels milder

Booom charts lol.
I’m not looking past T+96 anymore, sick of Booom charts that get watered down at T+24Ha ha ha so not long to wait then, to be honest I didn't expect the snow I got today nice surprise.

To be fair there must of been quite a but of snow that fell where I live as nearly every garden has a decent sized snowman. While it was snowing I was in the city centre working, there was a covering but not that much so probably a decent event here. There has be a slight thaw and its turning into a slushy mess, but there's still a good covering in places.
I've not had a chance to look at the charts yet, and I can't be bothered going I the mod thread. Is there anything in the charts regarding another cold spell
