But it seems to circle right round us, its ridiculous!! We will probably be the only area in the whole of the UK to miss out from this :o
my thoughts exactly and it looked so promising for us just hours ago
-
Im sat here wondering what all the fuss is about. still got our dustings from saturday and this morning with some slight snizzle earlier on but now it seems i am going to have to wait until thursday for any proper snow!? even thats going to change!
I look at the news and its hard to imagine its happening right on my doorstep when theres nothing but a dusting here!
-
i do feel we have missed out so far. lol
indeed especially when only sunday we were getting set to have some of the heavier falls than most today. that sudden turnaround of events yesterday seems to have done us over. still, it could pull a little further east again yet but im looking forward to tomorrow onwards.
-
lets hope for plenty of surprises, still dry here although cloud seems to be filling in.
strangely enough the sun just came out for 10mins before the snizzle returned. some nice dark clouds looking north out the window now. i don't think we're supposed to get any heavier stuff untill this evening.
-
thanks for that, should keep my little one happy. lol, is there much forecast for tomorrow? i heard showers but did not hear if they are to be heavy or not.
They're still unsure so they haven't mentioned exact amounts. Everything i have seen states there will be further cm's of snow, and to be honest with us being so close to the East coast I find it very unlikely we can miss out on the heavier stuff for the whole week and would expect minimum 2-3" of lying snow for the rest of the week. Also anything that settles is not going anywhere fast! Hopefully we'll get some good surprises
-
to be honest spalding should have roughly the same amount as us from 3oclock onwards if not more. if forecasts are correct we can expect 5 cm tonight around here before tomorrows comes in. i know a little bit further north they have quite a bit more already from saturdays and late last nights falls.
Edit: our best bet for more significant snow is for tomorrow onwards IMO, today will be a bonus if we get anything.
-
snizzle turning to light snow now...you dont have to look hard to see it falling now
-
wahey! got snizzle here. can't see it doing much to our dusting tho lol.
-
im pleased for you folks further north and west of here. seems to be sat about 50 miles north of me.
we got a dusting this morning on top of saturdays dusting so 5mm of snow with 5mm of ice underneath now.
looks like my area won't see much this time round so maybe tomorrow onwards will fair better...i would like to beat the 5" we got last feb as that was the most I have ever seen in person. before christmas came close at 4 and a half inches...so heres hoping by te end of the week

These are showers from the Irish sea, they where not expected to push so far inland at this stage.
i wonder if that is a signal for everything to evolve a little bit further east as it progresses then if these showers before hand have done!?
-
well looks like there are some beefy showers just 20 miles northwest of me here. none of the current charts or forecasts showed it this far south of lincs so early. is it progressing quicker than expected?

Just nipping out to defrost the car!!!!! Just love defrosting the car at half 4 in the afternoon
Just checked the radar and there is a nice blob of snow moving right towards me!!
sorry to disappoint but that moved straight over my town on radar without a single drop falling not long ago.
-
well the radar showed a heavy snow shower over my town half hour ago but nothing fell. jus -3.5 and freezing fog here. walking in the woods last night was the most lying snow i have ever seen round here. even saw two shooting stars from the top of the hill anyhting falling as snow tonight will be a bonus and it certainly isn't going anywhere for a couple of days. barely melted since first fall on friday.
-
wow, you are full of cheer aren't you
both Met O and BBC are forecsting a reverse of the front overnight and to hit London area around 0500 in the morning.
sorry, i know, all this radar watching makes me tired lol. think i might leave it until morning soon to see where it goes rather than trying to predict its movements. i Just don't trust the metO verdict on this one. besides i have enough snow on the ground to keep me happy even from last week
-
well gfs 18z pptn is backing up radar. the heavy stuff is going to push out through the wash into the sea before swinging round and later on tomorrow hitting northeast britain. the only stuff showing for east anglia and south east after 2am looks like being only really light stuff im afraid.
-
Very surprised with whats happening to the temps here. After reading reports of thawing my temps have dropped to -1C at 21.00pm.
At the moment the snow is petering out here. Now if you look at the radar the area to the S is likely to push E and the area around the wash could back W as this begins to tilt. However the front is relatively weak at the moment and its anyones guess what will develop along the cold front.
I would keep watching the radar over the next few hrs though.
I forgot to add that the cold front moving E will be overnight!
IF you are correct it certainly looks promising for this area
-
to be honest even if this does turn back down SE its looking like only east anglia are in the firing line to me now not the SE, please correct me if im wrong.
-
well its certainly further NE than the bbc predicted and not quite as widespread but it is showing signs of slowing down and pepping up on the latest radar (in my opinion)
-
Its really coming down hard now.
If this area of heavy snow does become stationary over our region then were in trouble due to the existing 5inches. What is it about the wash that makes this happen. This is the 4th time I have noticed this happen as this is what occured in Feb this year.
i agree, the wash does seem to hold any fronts around that little bit longer or even suck them in if you like. even friday mornings wasn't forecast to be so heavy round here the night before but seemed to drag north. still only moderate snow here, probably half an inch since 8 o clock. but on top of the 4 and a half from friday any more is certainly welcome. you seem to be getting the heavier stuff passing over you, i could do with it just edging north that extra 20 miles
-
i don't know what other people think but i think this is pushing NE quicker than expected
-
well its snowing moderately here in bourne and has been since about 8. we're 25mins south of grantham
-
snow turned fairly heavy here now. a nice top up from fridays snow
-
snowing here again now...hopefully this is the beginning of the real stuff.
-
i just need it to push that extra bit further N/NW to get under the moderate stuff. im confident this will happen in the next 45 mins before it stalls for 3 or 4 hours before sinking back southeast gradually.

ha tell me about it we missed out on all but a few showers and have about 5mm on the ground. hopefully we'll get some decents falls over the next few days.
