We now have tiny glittering ice crystals falling from the sky ....iv never seen this before. Im guessing its because its so cold. -13 here last night. -11 now.
-
No doubt....and isnt the re-freezing point after gritting between -7 and -10 too? Could well cause issues.
-
-7 at 5pm is ridiculous! It never got above -1 all day and there are some impressive icicles about where the sun shone.
-
We had 4 or 5 cm fresh onto the 4 or 5 left from our 10 on saturday and the only places its melting is where the grit is. Trees and everything beautifully white with icicles hanging off gutters and parked cars. -1 and sunny currently, what a fantastic Friday.
-
we have finally reached the fresh inch mark :-) ...our snowman from Saturday is looking much healthier :-)
-
Nearly 2 fresh cm here.....you wouldnt have believed it looking at the met and bbc forecasts yet the radar has been showing this path all day!
-
Looks like Bourne had a fair dusting this morning between 6-7am according to folks at work....
I can confirm we did. 1 Cm or maybe two if I was to exaggerate in places. Light flurries still around. Only melting where the sun targets when it occasionally comes out.
-
i think we have had more rain here today than we've had for 3 months...water butt still only a third full though. might bring some colour back to the grass before summer though.
-
I can't believe just how many showers are showing up on the radar. had 3 or 4 flurries this morning but nothing heavy enough to really do anything. very strong chilling wind though.
-
just been football training and just north of us (grantham way) was the most impressive storm i have seen for years...constant lighting and rumbles and considerably better than all the storms i saw in jamaica last year. i rushed home to grab the camera but sadly the storm had moved on a fair bit by the time i got back so heres the best image i could get. i can't descrivbe how impressive this storm was!
-
and just remember folks the evolution before christmas ... started cold, briefly warmer over the xmas period before the cold returned proper. I think there are some similarities and it may be the case this time round too if the charts keep sticking with this theme.
-
well here on the lincs/cambs border its been a miserable day. grey cloud with drizzle or sleet all day long melting the small amount of snow we actually had lying. this cold period has been terrible for snow for this area as we haven't had much lying at all 2 inches at most which only lasted 1 day.
I feel somewhat left out from everything we've been seeing on the news and forecasts. I am pleased for all those who finally saw decent amounts of snowfall but Im 21 years old next week and it was supposed to be the worst in over 20 years...coldest maybe but we had more snow 1 night last february than this month so far here!?
-
Yes, I do think the BBC graphics are underestimating the snow potential for the WHOLE region tomorrow, not just the South East, UKMO, GFS and ECM show the band getting as far north as Hull, and good runs tonight may see the Met updating their warnings tomorrow....
I agree as they have underestimated shower activity today and yesterday...it showed nothing here but activity in the wash area has gone mad the last hour or so. hopefully a top up to my 1 inch of snow
-
well we have a whopping 1 inch here since saturday. we seem to be in one of the only areas that has missed out on all the heavy stuff this week
-
I think the forecasts this last couple of days have been really innacurate for snow round here.
-
to be honest im not sure at the moment. we are certainly due some heavy stuff as we seem to be part of the minority that missed out. im going to stick with my original thoughts the other night and say 2-3 inches lying by sunday night, but any more is perfectly welcome I can't see this small cover thawing until next week
Edit: I think you'll do better than me by an inch or two being more north and closer to the coast...you guys always seem to have twice as much lol
-
i think so because there were no signs of them on the latest forecasts. not complaining lol. i think they're underdoing shower potential here tomorrow evening too. fingers crossed.
-
lol snowing again here, 3rd heavy shower this afternoon and got nearly 2cm now and 5 near the kerbs
-
Heavy Snow 1800 Thu 7 0600 Fri 8
Further snow showers will be heavy at times giving accumulations of 2 to 5 cm and possibly up to 10 cm in places.
The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice regarding traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

new metO warning for lincolnshire
-
a ten minute shower at half four bought 1cm of snow which has stuck everywhere...at last we are white like the rest of the country albeit not as deep
-
you can but i think everyones gone to bed temperature back up to minus 5 now with them showers passing by for now...snow blows horizontally more so than falling vertically when they do come.
-
if mother nature wants to be fair she should send this low to south lincs bringing accumulations because we have had barely anything fall since saturday afternoon.
nearly -6 here now
-
still just 1cm here after barely anything falling since saturday. and the forecasts seem to be going fo nothing but a sleety mix here tomorrow

Wow! Just got back from following that storm north of spalding ( wash area). I have never driven in rain that heavy before, big hailstones, constant thunder and lightning but best of all plenty of updraft. Someone must have got or should get a funnel from that storm!
