  1. Bah. Went out earlier and the front end of the bike is covered by the snow from the greenhouse roof.
  2. We have a nice blanket of icy snow now. Little chance of getting the bike out of the back garden...... Still think the Stray in Harrogate would've looked impressive with the trees lit in Winter. http://www.lights4fun.co.uk/news/30/article.asp
  3. Yeti: Forgot to ask, with the christmas lights still up and running in the trees on the run to the centre, did you get any night pictures of them with the snow? Bet it looked like christmas again.
  4. Nice photos. They remind me of what I saw in the late 80's or was it 1991?? An entire row of terraced houses with icicles like that hanging from the gutter. Looked like something out of a horror movie.
  5. Still snowing here (I think) but it looks like it might be wet/sleet as the lying snow looks like it does when it is rained on. Depths not really changed much. Around an inch on my car which was parked at 6pm. Not settling on the windows and is sliding off other cars so it looks to be wet snow. At the end of the day, this weather has proved that an easterly that delivers is still possible. Just things need to be right for it to happen. Off to bed now. Enjoy the snow.
  6. The garage roof next door has around 5-6". Depths range in the garden.
  7. It's got to be around 5-6" on the garage roof. The snow is now level on the corrugated asbestos roof. Went outside and put the floodlight on.
  8. Oohh the lights just flickered here. Gonna go out back in a moment and take another picture. Still moderate fine snow, hoping for a sudden intensification that buries my car... I can hope.....
  9. Anyone checked the radar? Looks like I was wrong with it loosing intensity. There's a big difference in the 20.30 and 21.30 radars. Also, what is orographic snowfall???
  10. Just noticed it's still snowing!!! Fine steady stuff. There's around 2cm on my company car. I've updated my webcam. You can compare the pictures by what was uploaded last.
  11. On the plus side, I can work on the bike on Wednesday if all the snow goes.....
  12. Watching the meto radar run, it looks as if the ppn is loosing intensity. Unless there's something moving in overnight to warrant the extreme warning, looks to me like Jan 1995 remains unbeaten still.
  13. Paul Hudson is on News 24 now. Dunno if it's live or not but he makes a point of how rare the extreme weather warning for West Yorkshire is. He also mentioned my favourite weather event of January 1995.
  14. Certainly interesting. How I wish I was at the top of Sutton Bank on the A170..... Edit, just seen the meto warning
  15. Today's pics: Back Garden this morning: Another cos it is fantastic: Kirkstall Road, late morning by Morissons: View of Gipton Woods, Leeds from Roundhay pub before it got dark: Current front street view on my webcam link in my sig.
  16. I woke up to 2 inches maybe 3 this morning. Pics in the pic thread shortly. Currently it's fine stuff that if it continued for a week, we might get an inch <_< Please, tell me there's more coming??
  17. My (rather poor) pics added to the pic thread. Will take camcorder with me tomorrow. This weather is definitely gonna cause problems tomorrow. I have to take the car to Randersons at Horsforth in the morning. Gonna be interesting to say the least...
  18. Mobile phone pics unfortunatly. Taken from the layby on the B6161 near Otley, Leeds where my car broke down. Cloud rolling in: Just before nightfall: Fab sunset to the West: Short, sharp shower: Better view: Not the world's best photo..... Crossgates:
  19. What a nasty day. Not just weatherwise. An inch in Crossgates at the moment. Have a look in the picture thread shortly. Been on the B6161 since 3.30pm. Only got home 20 mins ago as company car broke down. Sump plug is missing. AA put a radiator drain plug in for now, off to give Peugeot hell tomorrow morning.
  20. My room faces east. I can tell you the draught is rather nippy. Gonna be a few chilly mornings coming up!!!!!
  21. Being a Field Service Engineer, I can do reports for Leeds and surrounding districts. Might even take my camcorder with me and make some Youtube videos.
  22. I remember 87 well. Back then we did something that would strike fear in many hearts - Walk to school. It gets worse...we even played out in the snow at playtime The image of an entire block of terraced houses with the roof guttering covered in icicles like a scene from a horror movie is still as powering now, as it was then. They lasted a few days too. Wish I had a photo
