  1. UK Outlook for Tuesday 12 Apr 2011 to Thursday 21 Apr 2011: Largely fine to begin with, but conditions are expected to turn more unsettled later Tuesday or Wednesday as outbreaks of rain develop in many areas. The rest of next week and the start of the following week, will tend to be generally more unsettled than of late with showers or longer spells of rain affecting most parts at times, the north and west in particular. To the south and east there will be spells of fine, dry weather too and in spite of some rain at times rainfall amounts are likely to remain below average. Temperatures tending to become more widely near normal next week as conditions turn more unsettled, though to the south and east maxima will tend to be above average during brighter periods, especially at first. 2. UK Outlook for Thursday 21 Apr 2011 to Thursday 5 May 2011: The period looks as though it will continue with a general northwest-southeast split, with much of Scotland and Northern Ireland seeing mainly unsettled weather and occasionally below average temperatures for mid-spring. England and Wales should still have some spells of fine, dry weather but tend to be a little more unsettled than of late with occasional showers or rain. Temperatures should be often near normal and perhaps a little above normal at times in central and southern England. Rainfall amounts should be around average countrywide, with sunshine amounts close to or above average. Updated: 1208 on Wed 6 Apr 2011 http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_forecast_weather.html
  3. UK Outlook for Monday 11 Apr 2011 to Wednesday 20 Apr 2011: Southern and eastern parts of the UK are expected to remain largely dry and bright through much of next week. To the north and west more unsettled with showers at first then cloudier and windier with spells of more persistent rain, heavy at times, especially over northwestern Scotland. A little rain may spread into central parts of the UK at times later next week. During the rest of the period, the north and west remains unsettled whilst to the south and east still a good deal of fine, dry weather but some hint that conditions here may become a little more unsettled later. Temperatures generally above normal, especially to the south, so feeling pleasantly warm in sunshine. Temperatures then perhaps returning to nearer normal later in the period. 5. UK Outlook for Tuesday 19 Apr 2011 to Tuesday 3 May 2011: The period looks as though it will continue with the general north-south split at first, with much of Scotland and Northern Ireland seeing mainly unsettled weather and occasionally below average temperatures for mid-spring. England and Wales should generally be more settled with nearer-normal temperatures, possibly creeping a little above normal at times in central and southern England, but some spells of rain or showers are still likely at times. Rainfall amounts should be around average countrywide, but despite the spells of rain, much of the country should see average or a little above average sunshine amounts. 6. UK Outlook for Sunday 10 Apr 2011 to Tuesday 19 Apr 2011: Mainly dry, bright and warm Sunday, with a few showery outbreaks of rain to the west. Through the first part of the new week, the southern half of the UK should remain dry and bright with light winds and temperatures above normal. Northern areas, however, are likely to turn cloudier and windier with rain at times, especially Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures generally near normal. A similar pattern is likely through the second part of the week, and into the rest of the period, with the north remaining windy and unsettled at times with rain or showers. Meanwhile, further south, the drier and more settled weather will gradually give way to breezier and more unsettled conditions with temperatures returning to near normal, and perhaps some occasional rain or showers later. 10. UK Outlook for Saturday 9 Apr 2011 to Monday 18 Apr 2011: Generally settled through much of Saturday with sunshine and warm, light southerly winds for most, although perhaps cooler and mistier near southeastern coasts at times. Some showers are forecast to spread to western areas later, perhaps locally heavy. Showers at first in western areas on Sunday, then drier in the southwest later. Through the first part of the following week it looks as though southern and central areas will be mainly dry and bright with temperatures above normal, but northern areas will likely be cloudier and breezier with rain at times and temperatures near normal or occasionally below normal. 11. Summary Fine, settled and warm at first but cooler later Provisional figures suggest that March 2011 could be the driest across the UK since 1953. Averaged across the whole of the British Isles, around 41% of the expected rainfall fell but, as ever, this average covers a wide range of statistics. Cambridge saw no rain up to the 30th, whilst parts of Wester Ross exceeded 180mm. Dry weather doesn't always equate to copious amounts of sunshine but 2011 scored well here too. England and Wales enjoyed sufficient sunshine to rank this March in the top 15 of the past century. Northern Ireland wasn't far behind whilst Scotland managed to beat the average. March can be such a fickle month. One only has to check the records for 2010 to observe that snow, gales and heavy rain affected Scotland and Northern Ireland. March 2007, by contrast, formed part of a 60 day period across southeast England which was the driest since 1938. Monday 4 April 2011 to Sunday 10 April 2011 Rain to start the week but drier and warmer later The first half of the week will be marked by spells of wet and often windy weather, sweeping in off the Atlantic. Scotland, Northern Ireland and the north of England will bear the brunt of these conditions, with parts of southeast England and East Anglia remaining dry throughout. Rainfall totals in parts of northwest Scotland could reach 100mm by Wednesday, whilst the east of Scotland could struggle to reach 10mm. The second half of the week will see high pressure develop from the near continent. This will have the effect of settling the weather over the north of the British Isles and boosting temperatures quite widely. Isolated spots may achieve 20C in the latter part of the week, with the upper teens widespread. Monday 11 April 2011 to Sunday 17 April 2011 Fine for the south but unsettled in the north High pressure will tend to lose its grip on southern Britain as it gradually slips away southwestwards but not before it has provided more fine weather. As the high declines, so a more unsettled, southwesterly airstream will come to dominate the weather. This will allow weather fronts to move across northwest Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland. Temperatures will remain well above the seasonal average, both by day and night. Gardeners and growers need have little fear of frosts this week. After the dry March, more dry weather can be expected across the south of England and Wales, whilst April's rain and showers will be found further north. Monday 18 April 2011 to Sunday 1 May 2011 Westerlies set to bring seasonably showery weather With little prospect of a dominant high, the period will be marked by a westerly airstream. Showers or longer spells of rain will be the order of the day. Temperatures will fall back to lie closer to those expected in the latter part of April. Sunshine and rainfall totals should also avoid making the headlines. Next week London Marathon or Badminton Horse Trials? 14. and here Hopeing Storm Forecast Valid: Mon 04 Apr 2011 06:00 to Tue 05 Apr 2011 06:00 UTC Issued: Sun 03 Apr 2011 16:42 Forecaster: SCHLENCZEK A level 1 was issued for northern Ireland and Scotland mainly for damaging wind gusts and tornadoes. SYNOPSIS Numerous shortwave troughs move across western and northwestern Europe and lead to unsettled conditions. High pressure is building over central Europe while an upper cut-off low is present over the western Atlas mountains. Another cut-off over Turkey and the eastern Mediterranean should be associated with some thunderstorm activity as low-end instability is in place. Cold air convection may develop over S Scandinavia during the day. Later in the period, the British Isles will be affected by some showers and thunderstorms which are associated with a strong low pressure system south of Iceland. DISCUSSION ...N Ireland, Scotland... The cold front of a strong low pressure system should reach the British Isles in the late evening hours. Some few hundred J/kg CAPE should be present and besides strong forcing from the upper trough, very intense 0-1 km and 0-3 km shear is forecast. Given 30 - 35 m/s background winds at 700 hPa, severe wind gusts in excess of 25 m/s are likely to occur, locally even more than 32 m/s. Enhanced 300 - 500 m²/s² SRH3 combined with strong LL shear may suggest a tornado threat as well. As the gradient wind is also rather strong and the convective contribution to the gust intensity is probably not that high, a threat level 1 is issued in this situation. http://www.estofex.org/
  15. I Only had a torrential Shower here that about it maybe next time
  16. UK Outlook for Sunday 17 Apr 2011 to Sunday 1 May 2011: The second half of April looks as though it will move more towards changeable and unsettled conditions compared to the start of the month. Temperatures for the period look to exhibit a north-south split, with much of Scotland and Northern Ireland on balance seeing below or well-below average temperatures for mid-spring, though also perhaps seeing some warmer days at times. England and Wales will be nearer-normal, possibly creeping a little above at times in central and southern England. Rainfall amounts should be around normal countrywide, perhaps a little drier over Northern Ireland, whilst the opposite side of the UK and East Anglia may be slightly wetter. Despite the spells of rain, much of the country should see average or a little above average sunshine hours. 17. UK Outlook for Friday 8 Apr 2011 to Sunday 17 Apr 2011: Generally settled through Friday with sunny spells and warm southeasterly winds for most, although perhaps cooler and mistier near southern and southeastern coasts. Cloudier in northwest Scotland with possible light rain in northern Isles. Saturday will be similar, but with risk of some showers later in Cornwall, and further light rain in northwest Scotland, otherwise dry and bright or sunny. Through Sunday and the first part of the following week it looks as though southern and central areas will be mainly dry and bright with temperatures above normal, but northern areas will likely be cloudier and breezier with rain at times and temperatures near normal. A similar pattern is probable through the second part of the week with drier, brighter, warmer conditions in the south, but cloudier, wetter in north.
