  1. UK Outlook for Sunday 18 May 2014 to Sunday 1 Jun 2014: In the absence of any strong signals for any particular weather type to dominate during this period, the most likely scenario is for conditions to be fairly typical for the time of year. As such, there are likely to be periods of fine and dry weather interspersed with occasional more unsettled spells with rain or showers. By day, temperatures are most likely to be near, or just above, average which at this time of year would leave conditions feeling pleasant in sunshine when winds are light. 3. UK Outlook for Thursday 8 May 2014 to Saturday 17 May 2014: Light winds and showers in the north on Thursday, with cloud and rain elsewhere gradually clearing southeastwards. Further rain or showers on Friday, heaviest in the west, with the best of any drier, brighter interludes in the east. Temperatures generally near normal but probably feeling cool in the rain and stronger winds in the west. It is then likely to remain largely unsettled through the weekend and the following week, with bands of rain likely to cross the UK at times, and brighter, showery interludes in between. Often windy, especially in the west and southwest, Temperatures mostly near average, occasionally rather cool, especially in the west, and perhaps rising a little above for some southern areas later in the period. 5. UK Outlook for Wednesday 7 May 2014 to Friday 16 May 2014: Wednesday will be unsettled and rather breezy with outbreaks of rain, especially at first in southern and western areas. Drier and less unsettled conditions gradually spreading from the west later in the day. A temporary period of drier weather is possible overnight before further spells of rain return during Thursday. It is likely to remain largely unsettled into next weekend and through the following week, with showers or longer periods of rain at times. However, there will also be some drier and brighter periods in between; the best of which will be towards southeastern areas. Temperatures probably staying on the whole close to average for the time of year, however some warmer days are likely in the southeast/east, especially towards the middle of May. 6. UK Outlook for Monday 5 May 2014 to Wednesday 14 May 2014: Dry for many on Monday with sunny spells, especially in the south and east where it will feel pleasantly warm with light winds. Northwestern parts, however, will be cloudier and breezier with occasional drizzly rain. Another cold night will follow, away from the northwest, with a frost where skies clear. Rain in the northwest is likely to spread east on Tuesday, although likely not reaching the east until late in the day. This will herald the change to more unsettled conditions for the rest of the week with showers or more prolonged rain, interspersed with drier and sunnier intervals; the best of which in the southeast. It is likely to remain rather changeable into the following week. Temperatures near average, but locally warm in the sunnier periods in the southeast/east. 9. UK Outlook for Sunday 4 May 2014 to Tuesday 13 May 2014: Generally fine and dry for many through the bank holiday weekend with sunny spells, especially in the southeast where it will feel pleasantly warm. Northwestern parts, however, will tend to be cloudier and breezier with occasional rain and drizzle. These mainly settled conditions may well persist into the middle of next week, with maximum temperatures then a little above average whilst nights become less cold than at the weekend. Northwestern parts, however, are likely to remain cloudier with some rain at times. This cloudier and more unsettled weather probably spreads eastwards at times later next week. This mixed theme with fine periods interspersed with spells of unsettled weather, particularly for western and northern areas where it may also turn cooler later, probably continues for the rest of the forecast period. 10. UK Outlook for Saturday 3 May 2014 to Monday 12 May 2014: Most areas fine and dry with sunny spells this weekend, although there is a risk of a few light showers in the east on Saturday whilst some northwestern parts may turn cloudier with patchy rain on Sunday. Cold overnight, with fairly widespread ground frost, but daytime temperatures around average so not feeling too bad in sunshine. The mainly settled conditions look to persist through the early part of next week, temperatures then probably rising a little above average with the risk of overnight frost reducing. Northwestern parts, however, may remain cloudier with a risk of rain at times. Thereafter, most likely a return to slightly more unsettled conditions, particularly for western and northern areas, with near average temperatures and still a risk of colder interludes affecting the north at times. 11. Monthly Outlook Summary Plenty of showers; well I suppose it is April! In true April style this past week we have seen plenty of showers mixed equally with some sunny spells. Low pressure slowly crept in from the Atlantic towards the weekend and brought some more persistent rain for many, but there was still plenty of good weather to be found; most noticeably in northwest Scotland and Northern Ireland. With the start of May just around the corner will the April showers finally relinquish? Read on to find out more... Monday 28 April—Sunday 4 May A new month...new weather? This week looks like it is going to start with a good mix of weather. The wind will continue to blow in from the near continent keeping a stream of cloud, mist and sea fog into eastern and north-eastern coastal areas. This will pin temperatures back into single figures in some parts, but should slowly sink away to the south with an improvement from mid-week onwards. For the rest of us it looks as though the showery picture will persist, at least for the first half of the week, with plenty more thundery downpours and perhaps some localised surface water flooding. Towards the latter stages of next week it looks like a change is on the cards with some unseasonably cold air pushing down from the north. With this cold weather comes also comes a shift to something a little drier. With fewer showers and pressure starting to build the threat changes to a couple of sharp grass frosts overnight into the weekend. Monday 5 May—Sunday 11 May Is the colder weather set to stay? Moving ahead in the forecast it does look like high pressure will stick near to the UK; most likely to the south west. However, low pressure will never be too far away, it looks like it will park itself over to the east of the UK. With this set up the best of the weather would be found in the southwest with the driest and brightest conditions. The northeast, being closest to the low pressure, is likely to see the wettest weather with both showers and longer spells of rain. Monday 12 May—Sunday 25 May Battleground As we venture further ahead into the forecast computer models are currently struggling to determine the winner between high pressure to the southwest and low pressure to the northeast. It looks currently like most of us will see a mix of both; some sunny spells mixed equally with some showers. Next week As the forecast stretches into meteorological summer, will the weather play ball? http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2635167#outlook
  12. UK Outlook for Friday 2 May 2014 to Sunday 11 May 2014: Much colder than recent weeks to start with, with a risk of widespread and locally sharp overnight frosts, particularly on Friday night. Also a risk of a few wintry showers, chiefly to high ground in the northeast. Then a fine, largely dry interlude with winds easing for most places over the weekend, before more unsettled weather arrives into the northwest for the new working week. This is expected to gradually move southeastwards, though its progress remains uncertain, with southern areas staying dry for much of the week. As such, the frost risk should gradually reduce from the north as the week progresses. Thereafter, most likely a more unsettled look, particularly for western and northern areas, with near average temperatures, but a risk of colder interludes affecting the north at times. 13. UK Outlook for Sunday 11 May 2014 to Sunday 25 May 2014: Conditions are most probable to be fairly typical for the time of year with no strong signal for any particular weather type to dominate throughout the period. There are likely to be periods of fine and dry weather, interspersed with more unsettled spells with some rain or showers. By day temperatures are most likely to be near average, which at this time of year would leave conditions feeling pleasant in sunshine when winds are light. 14. UK Outlook for Thursday 1 May 2014 to Saturday 10 May 2014: After a rather unsettled start in the south, with showery rain, colder and drier conditions in the north will gradually spread southwards across the UK through the latter part of the week. However, there will be some showers in the northeast which may be wintry especially over hills. Daytime temperatures, near normal at first, will fall back to rather cold or cold, while overnight frosts are increasingly likely as we head to next weekend. Through the weekend, there will be a good deal of fine of weather in the south, but turning more unsettled from the northwest. Into the following week, the confidence is currently low but the most likely trend is for conditions to become more unsettled, particularly towards the northwest. 17. UK Outlook for Wednesday 30 Apr 2014 to Friday 9 May 2014: It will be unsettled on Wednesday with showers or longer spells of rain for many. There will be some drier and brighter spells in between. However, colder and more settled conditions are likely to develop across the far north of the UK later on Wednesday, with any showers locally turning wintry over the higher ground of Scotland. The colder and drier conditions in the north will then spread south across Britain through the rest of the week. Daytime temperatures will generally reach around average for the time of year. However, overnight frosts are possible in the north and perhaps locally in the south as well. Into the following week, the confidence is currently low but the most likely trend is for conditions to become more unsettled, particularly in the west. 18. UK Outlook for Friday 9 May 2014 to Friday 23 May 2014:There remains no strong, discernable signals for any particular weather type to dominate through this period. Conditions are most probable to be fairly typical for the time of year, with periods of largely fine and dry weather, interspersed with more unsettled spells with some rain and showers. By day temperatures are most likely to be near average, which at this time of year would leave conditions feeling pleasant in sunshine when winds are light. Where more settled conditions persist, nights may still be chilly with a touch of frost possible early in the month. Updated: 1211 on Thu 24 Apr 2014 http://www.metoffice...st_weather.html
  19. UK Outlook for Tuesday 29 Apr 2014 to Thursday 8 May 2014: A fairly cloudy picture across much of the UK at first with outbreaks of rain for many, except perhaps the far southeast. Clearer, colder conditions will spread to northern parts late Tuesday and into Wednesday, with some heavy showers giving a risk of snow over high ground in the far north. Later in the week colder conditions and showers will likely spread south to most. It will feel warm in drier, sunny spells, but temperatures will generally be trending downwards to just below average for late April. Through the Bank Holiday weekend there is a signal for more settled conditions to develop, with day time temperatures recovering to average. After Bank Holiday Monday, confidence is currently low but the most likely scenario is a return to more unsettled weather. By day, temperatures are likely to often be near average, which at this time of year would leave conditions feeling pleasant in sunshine when winds are light. Southern regions probably have the best chance of above average maxima. Where more settled conditions persist, nights may still be chilly with a touch of frost possible. Similar, changeable conditions look likely to persist for the remainder of the week with a continuing downward trend in temperatures, making it feel chilly with an increased risk of frost. Into the following week, perhaps after a drier interlude, the unsettled theme is expected to continue, but with signs that temperatures could recover, perhaps rising above normal. It will be breezy at times, particularly in the northwest. Chilly in the rain and along windward coasts, however it will feel warm where it remains bright. The rest of the week is likely to remain changeable, especially for the south and east of the UK at first, though some brighter periods are still likely. Temperatures are expected to gradually lower through the week, with an increasing risk of frost in the north.
