  1. Finaly after almost a year one of my weatherphoto's became Earth Science Picture of the Day (EPOD). Here is the link: EPOD 23-08-2008
  2. Nice stormline moved across the Netherlands. Lot of wind and heavy rain (just for 25 min) and 1 thunder. the radar pic. The photos. The storm approaching. Flying leaves and rainshafts. And then it was over.
  3. High clouds ruined it a bit, but gives nice moody photos. Photos made with a Canon EOS 350D, Sigma 400mm APO AF (1.6x) and a 1.2x teleconverter (total focal lenght 768mm), exept the last photo that one was made trough my 6 inch Skywatcher Newtonian telescoop. Enjoy!

  5. Yesterday afternoon i took these photo of a little storm passing over my workplace in the north of Amersfoort, Netherlands. As soon as i saw the precipitation fall a ran up the fire staircase (All metal) and took the photos, but after just 6 photos thunder and lightning. So i came down again as quick as posible. The little storm formed just for the town Soest and moved just north over Amersfoort and disipated again ( I counted 8 lightning discharges). Here are the photos, Enjoy. The fire staircase is on the right.
  6. Partial eclipsed Jupiter?????? A passing jet at the right time gives funny pics. The local television wanted a interview with me over the eclips.
  7. Thats when that shelfcloud past my house, very scary looking (almost looked that it reached the ground lol).
  8. I used the William Optics FLT 132 telescope with Baader AstroSolar D 3,8 of my collegue at the Public Observatory in Amersfoort, Netherlands, a 1,5x Vivitar teleconverter. exp. 1/4000 sec. ISO 100. Camera: Canon EOS 350D. Here the animated gif of the eclips moving across Europe.
  9. Put my camera (Canon EOS 350D) equiped with a 28-55mm Kit lens on a tripod used a cameracable and put it on manual (M), swiched off autofocus and used these settings 100 iso and 20sec exposure f: 5.6.
  10. Again a stormfront crossed over Amersfoort, Netherlands (and my camera is working overtime, 700+ photos today). Scary looking, but not a lot of precipitation or lightning. Enjoy! A radarpic of the stormfront. And some photos from the ground.
  11. Finaly the wind came from the right direction (no rain comming trough my open window). It was fantastic... many Earth-ground discharges with these photos as result. This is a radarpic of the storm just as it is passing over Amersfoort, Netherlands. And now the lightningphotos. Enjoy!
  12. This weather is always suprizing me...... first a angry looking storm, followed by high clouds and a beautiful Circumzenitial arc, sundog and irisation. Enjoy! The angry sky. And now the optics
  13. Nice fat rainstorm with heavy precipitation. Enjoy! Also a few Lenticularis, pileus, partial halo and shadow.
  14. To much to photograph (one beautiful storm after another). a radar image of this storm. Panorama of this storm. Double rainbow. Large randrops falling. End of the storm. Rainbow closeup. Beneath the clouds. Rainbow wheel. Rainshafts.
  15. The highest windspeed 48.2 km/h was during this storm, just before it began to rain.
  16. I don't mesure it, but i clasify it as heavy.... here some data from a weatherstation in town (not far away).   17. The solar powered gardenlighting went on (the first photo's were made at around 17:00h). But it looked more scary than it realy was :o This was the storm how it looked with the weatherradar. By the way these are all Colorphoto's.
  18. Heavy rainstorms moved over Amersfoort yesterday. Scary looking skies, and havy rain. enjoy (i did took 300 photo's). Here are a few of them. And now some panoramics hots.
