  1. There are going to be troughs and lows all in the mix. They will pop up out of nowhere in this situation. Have faith
  2. Absolutely Winter watcher, and a very merry christmas to you too
  3. weather on BBC1 is saying, "dont forget, snow can show up almost anywhere as their are fronts that will pop up antwhere. Potential for Friday is for a big snow event" They really cant afford to be any more specific than that. they know the general idea but the specifics will go to the wire. It must be a nightmare to forecast this week
  4. Hi all, GFS always errs on the warm side. In this scenario I think UKMO/ECM ar far more accurate
  5. Hi glasgow, That is exactly why the models are so interesting at the moment. It is early in the season really to get these kind of synoptics. The minima of the sun is at it's lowest, and should any decent cold arrive, it would be snow fest time. reards Jan
  6. Hi fromey, The Meto have much more input and info from all the models than we do. GFS is the only model that is free for the public. Everything else the public gets is a far watered down solution. Met O would also gather information from ALL of the models, not just one. Regards Jan
  7. Hi all, I have just read that pattern changes coming out of Canada and USA will be affecting the Omega block, also disturbing the ridging over Scandi. It also said that the synoptic future is totally uncertain. Complex set up. We could either re-load or end up with atlantic mild and wet. regards, Jan
  8. That is exactly my worry. Living in bromley as I do, Iam concerned that it will marginally be just too warm, ending up with cold sludge instead.
  9. Yes I agree. The cold is just refusing to be pulled down quickly enough. Very frustrating really regards Jan
  10. I like this run. That pesky low to the southwest runs out of imputus and merges with the low to the east. Cold is is slowere again coming in and 850's chop and change a bit, but the overall synoptics look much better regards Jan
  11. Hi snowfall09 Yes you would get greatly advanced convective showers from the north sea. The problem initially would be whether the wet bulb is low enough on the coasts. Could initially be sleet regards Jan
  12. Hi Neilsouth, surely when potential convections have died on the north sea coast it was due to the Wet bulb not being low enough. In this current scenario, those WB's will be plenty low enough for snow. regards jan
  13. Bromley, kent just had about 40 mins of heavy snow again. all but stopped now. 11cms so far today Jan
