  1. Half hour heavy snow in Bristol at 6.30 this morning. Still lying!
  2. Thanks for that useful info. So it's all really a bit of a knife-edge situation, then? Just in case it turns out to be a non-event, I'm thinking of starting up a "how un-snowy was it for you?" thread later on!
  3. Deflated or what 12 degrees and rain for me tomorrow, according to BBC online. Can hardly wait. Ah, well, it was a nice ride whilst it lasted!
  4. Yes, it's so foggy here that in my garden I can actually hear the moisture dripping from the trees! Doesn't seem so frosty tonight, though.
  5. For us, 8 degrees and rain on Thursday and 6 degrees and sunny on Friday. I'm thinking of moving. Ah, well, I feel better now that I have accepted that we are not going to get any snow here. All of this rollercoastering had done nothing for my blood pressure, anyway.
  6. It looks like us in S Glos will be having snow to the left of us and snow to the right of us and that's it Stuck in the middle with a big fat nothing It'sno fair I'm feeling all deflated I feel it is not even worth hoping...all that I have seen in the way of charts and the Countryfile forecast show nothing for us. What an old misery I am
  7. Heavy frost here again this morning. Plus freezing fog which is only slowly starting to lift.
  8. Hard frost on ground, plants, cars and roofs/rooves in South Gloucestershire this morning. Still need to get a thermometer.
  9. Thanks, John. The links posted by Evo have also been useful. I am an absolute beginner as far as the technicalities of weather forecasting are concerned! However, where there's a will there's a way and I am determined to learn as much as I can. I appreciate that many people on here are experts! I would never feel that I was being "talked down to".......just pleased that some kind soul was kind enough to take the time and effort to go through it again in terms suitable for a novice. I do not get offended!
  10. John, do you have any signs for simpletons like myself to look out for, please? regards noggin
  11. Mildish and dampish in South Gloucestershire.(need a thermometer and some more technical meteorology-speak!)
  12. Grass still needs a weekly mow here . My geranium is still flowering in a shady east facing nook. One very annoying thing is that my lobelias set so much seed that the bed that they were in is almost totally green with the seedlings. A good frost last night didn't get rid of the blighters. I must hope for a few more frosty nights. One of my iberis(es?) is just starting to flower a tiny bit........it shouldn't be starting that until about February.
  13. Beautifully frosty in South Gloucestershire. Until I get an outdoor thermometer I can't supply a temperature, but the water in my birdbath (about 2" deep) has frozen solid.
  14. Beautifully frosty here in South Gloucestershire this morning. Regret that I don't have an outdoor thermometer....might put it on Christmas present list! The water in my birdbath (about 2" deep) has frozen solid.
