  1. Welcome fellow Kemnayite, Ravelin!

the snow showers are starting to peter out now.. then it's gonna get cold (though it feels freezing already!) more fun for Aberdeen at coming home time?

    >>Amber warning,

not liking the look of the frost tonite then the possibility of wet stuff on top of the already frozen layer.. but hey ho, tomorrow's another day, am supposed to be driving to Inverurie tonite but will wait and see how quickly it freezes, or even if hubby get's car up't road

Am off (upstairs office tease.gif) to work next shift.. stay safe Aberdonians! (news reports say no major accidents this am, which is good!)

  2. Amazing Pics smile.png

Those photos are brilliant, okay I also admit bias it reminds me of home - growing up in Aberdeenshire can remember well Mither Tap and Bennachie on the horizon covered in snow, many a school trip hauling my wee legs up there !

    Top Notch Snooz. Thank You.

My Gorgeous (I'm biased) Front View - when you can see Bennachie - after the showers - you can see the clouds passing and the sun lighting up the Tops of Bennachie and the Mither Tap!

Sorry it's so many, won't always have better camera at home I promise :)

Local news still telling everyone to stay off roads, all roads in/out Aberdeen are apparently still useless, and accidents galore by the sound of it, hope everyone is Ok!

  4. Blimey Snooz, didn't realise it was as bad up there? Going by the model updates, you might be digging a lot next week!biggrin.png

Yep looks like it's going to be the order of the day this Year hohoho!!

    Probably a couple of cms!biggrin.png

that's Why Aberdeen/shire nae on the News LOL!

Thought there must have been some heavy snow to the east when I saw the flash of lightning on the horizon last night. Only a dusting here overnight and currently 0.1c.Turning off the last of the outside water troughs( troughs are concrete and putting out plastic temporary ones) and taps today in preparation for next week if the models are correct.

Aye saw those blue echos on the radar NL but unfortunately am a bit too far south of the moray coast to actually see the lighting, and didn't hear any thunder

more photos comin' have gone a bit snap happy sorry!

  5. clapping.gif there's a winter wonderland out there .. now for the not so good part, try get the car oot, I hear Aberdeen is gridlocked so no hurry.. most schools up here have no transport running but oor loon walks so he's most miffed, though I don't imagine there will be many kids there as the school is 90% transport pupils.., hubby still home so I'll try to get some daylight photos - noo far's me shovel

..Blackburn to Westhill road has just been closed

  6. http://www.raintoday.co.uk/

    http://www.sat24.com/de/scan?ir=true

are the ones I am using Snooz. Have you got much snow your way?

thanks bigyin, sat24 was the one i was looking for drinks.gif

am in Kemnay, with a wee bit of height, which I had to walk up tonight already, as car stuck - the slushy mess of the road that was, froze very quickly between 4-6pm then it started snowing again just after 6.. as is now snowing again as I type smile.png

the untouched level - on the dog house roof is 6cm though it would have a minor thaw/melt over the last 2 days - it's probably deeper on grass but am nae going out there to measure it smile.png

  7. peterhead/huntly/keith looks to be getting a pasting some of those deceptively little blobs that gave us further 1-2cms are echoing blue/purple on the radar!

now can anyone remind me of the best IR/animation site have got a new laptop and haven't yet got all me bookmarks installed.. these pepper pot type showers can sometimes give us a big accumulation if they hit right.. GL Aberdeen :)

  8. after the snowy start, it turned to rain/snizzle about 10ish, but has now turned back to snow, smaller light flakes so I'm presuming this is the 2nd band.. off to work, have fun all and hope as these bands hit you later it will have cooled enough :)

  9. happy winter peeps.. just saying Hi, but will mostly lurk! - I've some driving to do in next few weeks so have come to where I know I will find the bestest news.. hi to all new and thanks to Lorenzo, LS and the adopted peeps also for keeping us so well informed

  10. Just WOW! spected some but not like this, not yet.. thanks to GoldenJ and Golo?for the pics, and howham for reporting the city - I think you all have the jist of our shire .. it's just way too early - maybe that means we're all done? enjoy peeps!!

and thanks for the reports NL, lorenzo, et al.. NW is my first stop always for REAL news :)

  11. 2c currently with a ground frost in sheltered areas. Some signs from nature, vast skeins of geese coming into neighbouring fields to feed in the last few days, huge flocks of pigeons feeding on stubbles in the last few days with maybe some extras migrating from Scandinavia and have seen and heard quite a lot of flighting woodcock at dusk again numbers again possibly being augmented by migratory birds from Scandinavia. Cattle really clearing everything we put in front of them. Cold now well and truly established in Moscow nights down to -21c

funny you should say that about nature, my wee man cmmented about the geese as we were driving to basketball on saturday morning.. they, the geese, were coming in.. and he thought that was strange! when he asked me should they be doing that (coming home so early) I was lost .. I knew something was weird, but not what!

  12. Hope you are all well.. sounds like you've caught a sting indeed.. it was fairly calm here at least in comparison to the pics posted here, it was flat clam until about 10:30am then horrendous (30-50mph gusts) within another half hour, with horizontal sleet/rain/snow. The hills have another white dusting. Can't believe these incredible winds this winter.. lets hope, if the conveyor is to keep going, that it doesn't get much worse!

I've been fairly quiet this year, but am reading and looking at your pics.. did I mention wind is my least favourite weather..

OH and Happy New Year btw :air_kiss:

  13. Just changed yours to your NW pic. Working?

Hi AWT, I have added Altnaharra ( usually because it's the coldest place in Scotland a lot of the time). Going to add a few more over time and perhaps some traffic cameras.

    To add your profile pic.

On the map select the Icon button to change your icon, then select use own icon.

On your last post right click on your avatar pic and go to properties and copy the address.

Then post this copied address as your icon on google map.

    Hope that helps..

no i can't see it SS, in fact I have tp click the left menu to find myself LOL!

tried what you said Lorenzo, to add the icon myself, and it didn't work either, though the steps completed - seems it must be a browser thing as I still see no pin or icon but obviously some can :)

temp now: 0.2c DP -0.7 - just catching the lightest of lightest showers here, but the ground is now covered (rather than sprinkled) white and had fun getting car up hill a couple hours ago

  14. I can't see your marker SS?..

for those (like me) who are suffering from a lackage of the white stuff, go visit Google and type "Let it snow" in the search box ... wait.. then use your mouse to go skating ..enjoy :)

though to be fair we had a shower about 3pm which was most definitely snow so we have a white covering - temp's now up to 1.2c with a DP of -0.6 so if we do catch any of those showers flirting across the NE tip.. you never know ;)

  15. Hows Aberdeen looking later snow wise, meant to be on the train back to Embra at 4pm

I'll stick my neck out and say everything should be just fine.. Aberdeen and shire seems to be the only place not getting it from these NW'lys even if the showers do pep up a bit the likelyhood of it causing trouble down that route at that time I feel is slim to none Embra might have more likelyhood of catching something from them later.. we need a more N/Ne'ly flow which we had in abundance last year :)

    Hawesey glad you're back!

GWW seems to be having most of the excitement this year!
