First rumble heard here in Swindon. Looking good if the Bristol clump tracks further east.
-
Got a feeling peeps to the northeast of Swindon are gonna get hammered as this develops
-
And another. Here we go Here we go.
OOOhh a CG just outside as I'm typing
-
First rumble over Swindon. Get In!
-
Wonder if that cell over Bournemouth is about to explode?
-
Has anyone got a link to the UK coastal observatories with wave height information and stuff. I'm sure I got one off here before.
-
That cell in the channel looks to hit the IOW in the next couple of hours if it keeps its potency. Still building looking at Rain Toady.
-
Anvils look amazing from here in Reading, i knew before i looked at the radar theyd be too far to chase but I was surprised to see quite how far away
I can see them to the NE from Swindon which has to be at least 70 miles away as the crow flies. Must be pretty massive.

Couldn't get our prescision balances to stabalise in our factory in Oxfordshire. Phoned up the service companies site and theirs were all over the place as well in their workshop in Oxford. This was about 10.30am. Must have been one hell of a shock. I thought the technician was pully my wire when he told me about the earthquake. Balances have now settled back down again.

Well Padstow High Tide is at 1601hrs this afternoon.
I have to say the rain is getting steadily worse and heavier here now. Surely it's going to be the wettest day here this year and by some distance.
Edit- look at the River Camel webcam now- its going to be bye bye field within the hour!
I think the webcam is going to submerged in an hour

Torquay seafront closed due to flooding. I wonder if that was due to the winds and high tide.
-
Carol Kirkwood was doing the weather on the Beeb at 6.45 this morn and gave us an in depth discussion on the approaching Spanish plumbe and what causes it.
I read a post earlier in another thread with a user saying this wasn't a Spanish Plumbe but Miss Kirkwood seems to think it is.
Looks good for my area in the small hours of tomorrow morning.
Ah! Here it is.

Well! Were going to have lots of showers and storms in Swindon tomorrow afternoon. How do I know. Simple.
My sister is having a post Royal wedding BBQ.

Here's a nice website
Latest prognosis says it has intensified to the upper reaches of super typhoon strength.
-
Chris Fawkes gave this a brief mention during the weather on the Andrew Marr show this morning saying it was a super typhoon with the likes of strength he has never seen before. That prompted me to jump on here straight away. He said we'll be no doubt hearing it in the news tomorrow.
It looks devastating.

Thats heading towards me and he might scrape it in oxford
There are a few sferics in the line heading just south of Oxford as that passed me almost overhead but the real action is definately in the body just south of Swindon now heading to Didcot.
-
Hey everyone, any chance of a thunderstorm here in Oxford? Do you think I'd better stay put and wait for a storm or go chasing the one currently in the Swindon area?
It's passed here mate, looking at the radar your better of heading down the A34 to Didcot or Reading. It's a real biggie if it holds together.
-
Plenty of sferics detected in the line currently stretching south of Swindon, any first hand reports from this? Im thinking of heading out into the traffic....
[/quote,
Yep! It just passed to the south of Swindon. Lightning was good , lots of CC and CG. Shame it was daytime, the light show would have been spectacular. Thunder was constant with hardly a quiet spell between but all distant.
Drat, just missed this one.
-
Could be a developing storm just heading into the Bristol Channel now.
-
Well! This is a disappointment. I came on here expecting to read an in depth discussion on why Pakistan is recieving it's worst monsoon rains in it's history and not a bean.
I'm not a weather techie but would love to know what's causing the extra heavy monsoons this year. Am I in the wrong section.
Darren.

Nothing here in Ash Brake N Swindon
Nothing here in Upper Stratton Yet aswell,
-
Just heard on the BBC that a couple of bridges have now collapsed in Workington and Keswick. I hope no body was watching the floods on them at the time. Edit, Police reckon one of thier officers is missing.
-
I hope this doesn't get as bad as predicted for my area. Don't like high winds
I noticed EasyTide has some particulary high tides predicted for your area in the small hours of the morning as well.
-
well the water is about an hour away from breaching my defences.
wind picking up also.
What's the situation up there at the moment Peterf. You've had more than an hours rain since your last post and looks like there's a load more to come. Looks serious.

Holy Moly! Lumps of ice falling out the sky the size of marbles. Kicking off big style. Gotta feeling I'm gonna be reading about flooding in the local rag. Never seen that much water in my back garden.
All passed now and calm again
