  1. The temps are dropping like a stone around here now - already -1.5C and the slight thaw has very much been halted, this snow should hang around for sometime now and if we are lucky maybe a top up later this weekend?

Just popped outside to clear the snow off my conservatory roof and it is cold already and the wind doesn't help. Gonna be chaos in the morning on the side roads/pavements as the slight thaw means there will be ice underneath the snow.:help::help:

  2. Can anyone check the Netweather Radar for SN1 for me? Am i due much more snow throughout today? cc_confused.gif Thanks!

You are in the band of light snow which looks like it may last for a while. The heavy stuff is south of you

    Hi people.

    ( Dogs , tricky , textmum etc )

    Maybe its not over yet?

That's the band of snow I mentioned earlier. seems to be pepping up too.

  3. Quick update from work - new NAE just arrived now wants to focus worst snowfall (20cm +) out of westcountry by around 50NM northeast, into Berks, Surrey and Bucks, including threatening Heathrow.

Some degree of wrap around back for parts of Wilts / Glos / Bristol / Bath areas around midnight onwards to 06Z in new run but I can't see the original totals being attained for our districts, frankly. I believe UKMO now considering amendments to the current flash warning to cater for new run.

About to hold conference call with UKMO so will hear the composite viewpoint soon.

Thanks for the update Ian, I guess you may share with us the outcome of the conference call? :good:

  4. RED weather warning on Met office for south..!!! OMG!!

no details as yet but Glos not included :yahoo:

    Edit:

There is a high risk of an extreme weather event affecting parts of Southern England this evening and overnight. A period of exceptionally heavy snowfall is expected with accumulations of 15-30 cm and perhaps in excess of 40 cm. This is expected to cause widespread disruption to the transport network and could lead to problems with power supplies.

The public are advised to take extreme care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

  5. New warnings out for us

    South West England:

    Bath + NE Somerset

    Bristol

    Gloucestershire

    N Somerset

    S Gloucestershire

    Heavy Snow Tue 29 Dec

There is a moderate risk of severe weather affecting parts of England and Wales during Tuesday.

Outbreaks of rain spreading slowly northwards will turn to sleet and snow. Accumulations of 5-10cm are possible in places accompanied by strengthening easterly winds giving drifting locally. There remains uncertainty over the areas at risk which will be kept under review.
