What do people think the prospects are for more snow in Derby? The local paper reports that several schools will be closed tomorrow as more snow is forcast? The council is running out of grit too!
People on here who look at the charts will know better, but the forcast on BBC just now looked asthough E mids have a good chance of snow, although still some uncertainty. Better chance if your far away from the coast, and high up!
A bit of fresh snow has fallen here in Derby overnight. Unexpected.
Got a slight covering of snow in Derby, started settling properly at about 5pm. Had showers on and of all day, although they seem to have eased off. Was partly cloudy a few minutes ago. Hopefully see more persitant snow later in the night and tomorrow.
Heavy snow in Derby now, for the last 10 mins. Settling everywhere, even on main roads which are now slushy!! Interestingly, theres no flash warning for Derby, Derbyshire - just Notts, Leics! Enjoy the snow (never expected this much). Matt
just woke up, and theres a dusting of snow in Derby. Not sure when it snowed, but it was after 2am. Sky is clear now - I assume it will melt away soon, but hopefully more showers later. Looks good on the meto rainfall radar anyway, showers across as far as B'ham. Might go up the peak district later theyre bound to have snow up there. Matt
And another thing - now that im on a moaning roll - why do the MET office always get it wrong lately - has it been hard to predict. They Said: Last night they gave out a dry morning, with showers later on. What happened: It hammered it down all morning till 3pm, and then it became lighter, and eventually fragmented to showers. Whats also annoying is that they say it will be cloudy for the rst of the week. ghhhrrr
It rained all day Monday, although at times it did ease. It became showery in the evening. The same has happened today - rain all day from 7am, till around 5pm easing by around 2-3pm though. Theres now a few showers. Its just been too wet. Its strange to have two days of fairly persistant heavy rain, especially in july. Im not sure of the raifall totals, but i bet its beat those for the whole of June?
