  1. Temps will fall away and dewpoints are already dropping around 1 degreee at the moment in my area and they are only going down. Lampost watching at its finest would be my usual comment but as it won't be ariving until the small hours I will be in the land of nod hoping for a suprise when I wake up.

  2. I'd like to think we will all get a pasting of snow however I think cardiff and surrounding areas are going to struggle. Andy will do ok as he has elevation but other than that I think it could be disappointing for the south on Friday. Sunday still to be decided Meto sem to think its going to be way too far north but they have been wrong before.

  3. ONCE AGAIN - WEATHER BIAS - WALES IS PUT ASIDE - NO CARE TAKEN WITH FORECASTS - I COULD DO THIS ONE STANDING ON MY HEAD JUGGLING 3 BALLS ALL AT ONCE - AND STILL GIVE A BETTER FORECAST - I THINK I'M GONNA GO FOR DEREK'S JOB AT THE BEEB - KNOW LOADS OF GUYS DOWN THERE ANYWAY - WITH THE KNOWLEDGE I HAVE - WITHOUT A DEGREE IN THE SCIENCE SUBJECTS I COULD RUN RINGS ROUND HIM - THE SNOW IS GONNA BE A MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR ISSUE TODAY FOR WALES - WORK IT OUT - THERE IS AN ENGLISH BIAS ON FORECASTS - AND WE ARE GETTING THE THIN EDGE OF THE WEDGE BECAUSE OF JEALOUSY - MAYBE - INCOMPETENCE - MORE LIKELY

EDIT - OH YEAH AND I'VE GOT MORE SNOW THAN I KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH AND I KNEW THIS WAS COMING TWO WEEKS AGO - AM I PSYCHIC - NOPE - I CAN READ FORECASTS AND READ ROUND THE SUBJECT

Lol Andy think this snow has induced some type of cabin fever your posts don't half make me chuckle.

Nice bit fallin here too think it could be another snow day. :D

  4. Interesting just went backwards on BBC News 24 to the last weather forecast and he said the words 'take action'.

That could be the new cold weather alert system used in england as they have a level 3 cold weather action warning out for the next few days. Its not a red warning just means expect it to be very cold , see polar bears and penguins walking past your house etc :)

  5. wouldn't bother - WALES UNOFICIAL HOLIDAY HAS NOW BEGUN! lol

Seems like the holiday period in the model thread surprisingly quiet now they have realised all the snow belongs to us in wales biggrin.png

Think we are in for some major fun in the next few days and am going to enjoy winding up our english neighbours with proper snow.

  6. Seems strange to me that they have issued a warning 3 days out as normally we have a covering before we get the warning. I must say seeing this warning is very encouraging as they obviously think something is on its way for us on friday to have issued that warning.

I know the situation between now and friday can still change but I am quietly confident that we will get a result this time :)

  7. Looks like some really heavy precip on the way into Wales now - lets hope it's bringing the colder uppers also!

Am in cambridge until 2moro but we have seen maybe another 2-3cms of snow however it seems warmer so i am not sure that the front is not going to arrive in western parts with warmer temps. wish you all the best as i am heading back to wales 2moro evening however think this is coming from the wrong direction for the most of wales to benefit. :)

  8. Well must say looking a mixed bag for Wales this weekend and normally I'd be watching for any minor upgrade that would get me some snow. Andy love the positivity and hopefully it will be rewarded tomorrow but for once when there is a snow event due I am not at home. I happen to be roughly centre of the big orange warning that METO have out for sat as I am working in Cambridge at the moment. May have struck lucky here and could be in the right place at the right time for a change :)

  9. Maybe a stupid question so mods feel free to move or delete but

why dont the models take into account historical data i.e why dont they learn from this year to be better next year?

Seems common sense to me but some posts i read earlier seem to say that this is disregarded is that really the case as if so the models are never going to be really accurate as they are relying on human programming rather than real world data and not tuning themselves to what is reallly going on.

Not a big fan of A.I. but surely if a framework for modelling is put in place and its fed with more and more data to learn from it should become more accurate.

If someone can answer this i would be very interested in the reply :(
