  1. looking at the radar there is an area of heavy snow over the west country that looks as though its going to pivot and cause us yet more heavy snow, just my thoughts looking at the radar what do you reckon?
  2. seems to have pepped back up a bit now this is looking like an absolute blinder :o
  3. snow has gone very fine here blowing almost horizontal at times think it will lighten for a while then the next line of heavu stuff will move in.
  4. looks like the wind has picked up really blowing it down now
  5. seen a few pass my house must be 4 inches on the ground at 35 mph they must be willing organ donors
  6. is it me or does the radar just keep looking better and better?
  7. Last snow i saw anywhere near this good was 1982 and i was only 9 am not missing a minute of this kettles on and curtains are open
  8. Main road through church village is totally white snow depth almost level to the curb and seeing as its the main route from royal glamorgan hospital to pontypridd i would have thought it would have been gritted a lot more frequently. heavy snow here and have to say loving every minute of it
  9. Snowing here now not settling at the moment but getting heavier
  10. Think some people are forgetting the models are predictions not exactly what will happen, in a situation like this the whole thing can chage within an hour let alone 48 hours away. I don't think anyone on here regradless of experience would stick their neck out and say what will happen as its simply too unpredictable. Need some more positivety in this thread as I am sure we wil get our fair share
  11. Walking or could that be staggering back from the pub all the puddles and surface water were ice definetly cold here
  12. Firstly happy new year to everyone I have to say ( maybe slightly off topic if i am nods please delete) but a big thank you to the people who post in this thread day in day out. I dont know a lot about the models etc and am learning but some of the posts from the likes of john holmes, steve murr , TEITS , WIB and TWS are excellent(if i have missed anyone out i am sorry there are too many good posters). All i have done this winter as i am a snow freak is read the model discusion thread find something i didnt undestand and go research it whether it be a model run or a piece of terminolgy. This site is awseome i know people get a bit irritated when things don't go their way but I am learning loads and enjoying the experience of being here although i dont post a lot I am gaining knowledge. Keep up the good work al and I hope as i understand it the current cold spell extends as far as is expected as i am sure we will have some exceptional weather out of it
  13. Think for those of us in the south who are disappointed with the way today has turned out there are some good possibilities yet. What i would like to know and probably so would everyone else is where the front will stall, how long will it stall for and will the air be cold enough when it starts heading back south. If we could figure all that out we would be laughing. Personally i am not ruling anything out you never can tell in these situations
  14. Thats cheerwed me up no end has to be the funniest post of the day
  15. I can see a few definite things in this cold spell. 1. There is going to be a lot of bleary eyes in the morning. 2. Your neighboutrs are gonna think you have a problem peeking out the window every 5 mins. 3. The forum is gonna be pretty bvusy until silly o'clock with all us snow addicts. I can't wait and only a few hours until it all kicks off one way or another
  16. I know its easy to see one run of models and think its all over but it seems the GFS is on a limb and I fully expect it to change and come a lot more in line with the other models in the next few runs. I am quite positive that we will see something very interesting on tuesday but I think we need a bit more optimism in this thread. If it happens great if it doesnt then start looking for the next possibility
  17. Having read a lot of the model output discussion thread it seems GFS is on its own at the moment asd none of the other models agree with it. Think we wont really know until it gets a little bit closer to tues
  18. think i saw some tumbleweed in here lol I am suprised that Meto have issued warnings this far out and am wondering if this could be "the big one" we've all been waiting for. Usually we dont get a warning until either it starts snowing or if its just about to so 4 days out is a hell of a shock. Not too experienced at reading the charts have a rough idea but what do the more experienced chart readers make of the situation for tuesday?
  19. Just a quick post to say merry christmas everyone I hope you and you families have a fabulous time. A few feet of snow would be nice but that culd be asking santa for too much
  20. anyone with any idea how far east those showers are gonna get? warnings out for a lot further east than they are currently is something gonna change?
  21. the showers seem to be coming up the bristol channel looking at meto radar but i dont think we'll see them until 7-8 pm if at all
  22. looks like we will get a break here for an hour or two before the showers hit which would be good as the temp will start to drop as it gets dark so hopefully it will all fall as snow rather than the rain / slet / snow mix we had earlier
  23. Shame to see meto dont share the same confidence for us in wales the only warning they have out for us is sun for north wales only seems a bit weird after looking at the charts (atlthough i am a not very knowledgeable where these things are concerned). Would be nice for someone else to shed some light on the 18z with regards to wales
