  1. Temps will fall away and dewpoints are already dropping around 1 degreee at the moment in my area and they are only going down. Lampost watching at its finest would be my usual comment but as it won't be ariving until the small hours I will be in the land of nod hoping for a suprise when I wake up.
  2. I'd like to think we will all get a pasting of snow however I think cardiff and surrounding areas are going to struggle. Andy will do ok as he has elevation but other than that I think it could be disappointing for the south on Friday. Sunday still to be decided Meto sem to think its going to be way too far north but they have been wrong before.
  3. Not sure its going to be cold enough on Monday looking at the charts we may just miss out again but then again not convinced the models have it right either.
  4. Lol Andy think this snow has induced some type of cabin fever your posts don't half make me chuckle. Nice bit fallin here too think it could be another snow day.
  5. Ok who broke the netweather radar? Its showing nothing for me but it hasnt stopped snowing all day :o
  6. Appears to be passing over with not a lot behind it at the moment cant see us having a lot more over the course of the day
  7. Heavy sleet / rain here looks a bit of a non starter at the mo
  8. went out for a ciggy about 10 mins ago and there was light rain am expecting that to change shortly but no white stuff as yet
  9. Not that I know anything about weather but I would say it would slow down as it came up against the colder air , but thats only a guess
  10. If it falls heavily enough you wont need a lampost or a torch lol
  11. How many member on here rmember the snow in '82 and how bad it was? I was 8 back then but I can rmember local kids riding their bikes acvross roath park lake and the radio station (then cbc thats a blast from the past) were telling everyone not to do it due to the danger lol
  12. I think if a red is issued it will be very shortly before the event or during but I may be wrong. The meto yellow warning has bveen uodated and i think its a bit further west which could be good for those in pembs
  13. That could be the new cold weather alert system used in england as they have a level 3 cold weather action warning out for the next few days. Its not a red warning just means expect it to be very cold , see polar bears and penguins walking past your house etc
  14. Seems like the holiday period in the model thread surprisingly quiet now they have realised all the snow belongs to us in wales Think we are in for some major fun in the next few days and am going to enjoy winding up our english neighbours with proper snow.
  15. Debating whether to go to work lol. Been snowing all night here but not much settled don't want to take the chance of us having a period of heavier snow before the main event tonight making it difficult to get home.
  16. Seems strange to me that they have issued a warning 3 days out as normally we have a covering before we get the warning. I must say seeing this warning is very encouraging as they obviously think something is on its way for us on friday to have issued that warning. I know the situation between now and friday can still change but I am quietly confident that we will get a result this time
  17. Out of hibernation from the summer and back on the forum for winter. For the first time ever I don't actually want snow on Saturday as I am moving house. Sat night or sunday would be fine though lol
  18. Am in cambridge until 2moro but we have seen maybe another 2-3cms of snow however it seems warmer so i am not sure that the front is not going to arrive in western parts with warmer temps. wish you all the best as i am heading back to wales 2moro evening however think this is coming from the wrong direction for the most of wales to benefit.
  19. Cambridge getting a decent pasting at the moment and looking like it will continue for a good while yet
  20. And there was me thinking you had proper snow Andy lol thats just a sprinkling in our neck of the woods. Hating the waiting game at the mo all you in wales having fun with your snow and I am stuck in Cambridge waiting to see if we get a pasting here
  21. lol looking at the radar what the east of wales have had so far is starters the main course looks to be arriving very soon
  22. Would love to Only problem is if we have all this snow how am i supposed to get to the pub to watch the rugby on sun
  23. Well must say looking a mixed bag for Wales this weekend and normally I'd be watching for any minor upgrade that would get me some snow. Andy love the positivity and hopefully it will be rewarded tomorrow but for once when there is a snow event due I am not at home. I happen to be roughly centre of the big orange warning that METO have out for sat as I am working in Cambridge at the moment. May have struck lucky here and could be in the right place at the right time for a change
  24. hope winter hasnt given up yet as we have had a good one this year and a good farewell would be nice
  25. Maybe a stupid question so mods feel free to move or delete but why dont the models take into account historical data i.e why dont they learn from this year to be better next year? Seems common sense to me but some posts i read earlier seem to say that this is disregarded is that really the case as if so the models are never going to be really accurate as they are relying on human programming rather than real world data and not tuning themselves to what is reallly going on. Not a big fan of A.I. but surely if a framework for modelling is put in place and its fed with more and more data to learn from it should become more accurate. If someone can answer this i would be very interested in the reply
