Unbelievable , was so refreshing to hear someone forecast snow with some excitment ! He was like a big kid when snow was on the way , which to be honest is what we are all like. Oh well, good one aunty beeb let the beige forecasters stay and lose the one who put a bit of magic in the forecast. He be sorely missed by me .

It's just the weather boys and girls . I can't believe how tetchy this thread becomes sometimes. Winter has not even begun and already the antagonism is becoming rife on here.

Could it be warm spring followed by cool summer, then warm autumn followed by cool winter? I am enjoying the current weather, the longer I can keep the heating off the better!!! Hopefully by mid November we can have some clues about where winter is heading .

Not sure I agree that the met called it well last year , seem to remember they forecast it woul snow when it was already snowing outside.

No offence meant and sorry for straying off topic , just think it is too early to call one way or another but the more the normal the weather in November the more confident I am of a normal ( not mild ) winter .

Am confused again. Thought was established that what happens six weeks before winter starts has no bearing on the coming season. Tought November was supposed to be the month where the Atlantic dominates , is not what the models predicting just normal November weather, no disrespect to your met office friend but when was the last time the met got a long-range forecast correct ?

Has been an awful spell for London, seems as everywhere else in the uk has had the cold and snow where as we have just had the COLD. This has been the worst winter set up for me, i appreciate for many this has been epic but we have missed it from the south , the east, the west and the north. After all the hype this has been the worst ever. I really hope all have had snow have truly enjoyed and appreciated it. I hope and pray for a quick and mild breakdown so we can all get back to the regular uk weather, uninspiring , tedious and for such a small island a winning situation for the minority but a huge kick in the b****S for the majorit. Sorry to be so negative but seems it has been ALWAYS a downgrade. God bless the uk only the third biggest island and truly has the most diverse weather but the majority of the time it is S***t.

Here is hoping that this week has been just a taster. I hope that GP's thoughts for January are correct and that we could be on the cusp of something a bit special. The ensembles for GFS are looking good right now let's hope this trend continues. My wife doesn't understand my obsession with winter weather but standing in london on the shortest day of the year with the snow tipping down was just magical. Now if we could get a freeze up like they have just had on the east coast of the USA that really would send this place into melt down, over twenty inches in Manhatten- crazy !

Hi All, No snow from an easterly, no snow from a northerly. I appreciate I live in London but do feel deflated and mislead by some of the forecasts that were given. If we can't get any from these temps then I really don't hold much hope for the rest of the winter. A bit dramatic I know but to get nothing from Fridays easterly was unbeleviable.
