  1. Good 2inches of snow here in Melksham. Most snow I've seen here and I've been here 12 years! Amazing year for me this year.
  2. Woohoo - snowing in Melksham, Wilts - varying between V.Light and Light - but definite snow. Fiona
  3. On the close up of the NW Radar the "hole" is an area of sleet but now the front has started moving again what is coming out the other side of it is snow and starting to look like heavy snow. The green patch itself is not moving and hasn't moved for over an hour now. Fiona
  4. I've been watching the Plymouth/Exeter traffic cams - first cam in Exeter shows white out conditions there. Might help you watch how things progress... My link Fiona
  5. Its snowing here - heaviest snow i've seen yet - just won't last very long though i don't think. Nice surprise though. Fiona
  6. Can I just say that the large area of precipitation in the west country was, until around 6am this morning coming over from France and heading in a northerly direction towards wales and the midlands. Even at its worst, there were only a few snowflakes falling and there was no accumulation whatsoever here. Around 6am the wind direction changed and it seems from looking at the other threads that it was the easterly that has been delayed. The precipitation that we were expecting today off the easterly is just forming now as it comes over from Belgium and that general area - if you have the European radar you can see it. Hope this helps understand what happened overnight when you were in your beds and there were only a few of us around on here. Fiona
  7. A Balmy -8C during the night here in Melksham - now at -7C. Fiona
  8. I just posted your figures for Trowbridge at the bottom of page 13. Fiona
  9. This is what it says for Trowbridge right now: Fair: -5 °C Feels Like:-5 °C Barometer:982.05 mb and steady Humidity:91 % Visibility:9.99 km Dewpoint:-6 °C Wind:N 22.53 km/h Sunrise:8:12 AM Sunset:4:15 PM
  10. Just checked for you - you're very much still in the thick of it and directly lined with the snow that is streaming across from the east - so to my untrained eye - i'd expect snow for a while yet - unless it all sinks directly south of course ! Fiona
  11. Good Morning everyone - great to wake up to a snow wonderland - must be at least 3 inches of snow here and still snowing ! Woohooooooooo ! Did Leon and Tim get their wish? Does Bristol finally have snow too? Fiona
  12. According to the NW Radar the wind direction has now changed and is now Northerly - all that stuff above you will be heading in your direction any time now. Fiona
  13. Finally snowing in Melksham - we have a light covering now.
  14. I'm not going to bed until i've seen some snow ! Would hate to find that its been and gone by the morning and I don't know anything about it !
  15. I'm in Melksham and have nothing here yet! Keep waiting for this turn around or pivot or whatever that is meant to happen but its sure taking its time. Fiona
  16. It doesn't half try your patience does it. LOLOLOL I'm at the point of giving up - I told you my house would end up being the place of no snow at the centre of the low and that's how it is certainly appearing so far. I've taken to getting my snow fix from watching the travel cams in Scotland now - how sad is that ! Fiona
  17. I'd like to take a bet that it centres right over my house - so far i've had zilch - even in Feb 2009. Even when the NW radar shows snow overhead for some reason nothing materialises here - perhaps my house is over the bowels of hell or something! Lets wait and see what happens. LOLOL Fiona
  18. Just been looking at the Glens of Foundland Weather cam and its a white out - wouldn't surprise me if it gets blocked soon too.., Drumocheter is in the same position also - complete white out there right now...so snow is around for sure. Fiona
  19. -4C here right now. I went out for a walk but the dogs refused to join me so I came back in again !
  20. Can I just echo what others are saying. Ian, having been on here for a few years now, it is only over the past couple of weeks via your posts on this thread and the supporting evidence that you provide that I have started to comprehend some of the charts and the challenges surrounding accurate forecasting. Your input is most welcomed by me and you have a clear style of delivery too which helps enormously. Thanks for the time and effort you take to contribute. Kind regards Fiona
  21. Anyone getting any snow off the precipitation around Bristol right now?
  22. We have a dusting of snow here too - it started at 6.30am this morning and was snowing quite heavily at the time - must have just been a passing shower though. Beautiful day though - cold crisp and at least something white lying on the ground for a change! Fiona
  23. Happy New Year to everyone from an exiled Aberdonian. Oh how I wish I was in Scotland right now with all the snow around! Have a good one ! Fiona
  24. Happy New Year to everyone. May 2010 be the year of the SNOW in the SW. Fiona
