  1. Just for information - i've just driven back down to Wiltshire from Telford on the M5/M4 and nothing that even resembled a snowflake the whole journey. Lowest temps on the car temp guage was 3C and that was on the M4 between Bristol and Bath where the weather at least trying to turn wintry with some vague sleet, but mostly rain the whole journey. Temps north of Bristol didn't get below 4-5C the entire journey. Fiona
  2. Any idea when/how this pivot is going to happen in order for the outcome that was shown in Ian's post earlier? Don't see any evidence of change yet or where that precipitation is going to come from do you?
  3. On the NW Radar there seems to be an intensifying band heading up over north cornwall/devon - chance of another bristol channel streamer perhaps?
  4. I took time off work in anticipation of snow in Feb and got zilch - spend 2 days lampost watching and nothing landed here at all! This must be one of the worst places for a snow lover to reside that's for sure ! hahaha
  5. No - smallish flakes - not wet/sleety snow at all. This is the most snow i've seen here in Melsham in the past 4 years ! Long may it continue. The NW radar is showing this as sleet but I can assure you its not - just came back from Corsham area and it is almost blizzard like conditions up there on the higher ground.
  6. It is snowing in Melksham - proper snow too - lying very quickly too.
  7. I'm becoming rather precious about the dusting of snow and ice in my garden and wouldn't want to lose it in favour of a rain event. If I can't have snow then i'd rather keep the dry, icy days quite frankly. The front moving up from the SW has not touched me at all so far and now seems to be to the east of me. I will watch with interest tonight to see if any snow appears off another streamer - if not then icy is just fine. Fiona
  8. On the NetWeather Radar it is showing as sleet and not snow right now.
  9. Just started snowing here too - what an amazing surprise! Took the puppies out to see their first snow in case it was gone by morning ! hahaha Fiona
  10. I had the rain then it turned to snow - seems to have frozen over now as there are patches of snow still on the pavement and the cars. Nothing great so far though - but maybe it will build up if we keep getting these showers passing through - here's hoping!
  11. ok - you woke me up - congrats on the snow - is it heavy or what? LOL
  12. Just to give you all some hope - I didn't see any snow until the first band of precipitation cleared then it was way colder in behind that with some snow which started to lie quite quickly. Don't give up just yet! Fiona
  13. This is 100% better than Feb 09 for me - I never saw one snowflake during that event.
  14. It is much much colder here now that first band of precipitation has passed - now snowing with smallish flakes - not wet snow so far. Not yer lying but I think if it keeps up for another 10 mins or so then it probably will start to lie.
  15. Is it my imagination or is it all moving south eastwards now - second band was directly above me 30 mins ago - now it isn't going to hit here at all according to the radar. Fiona
  16. You're right. My sister lives in Telford and she got nothing but rain - she has been on the phone 3 times and is still fuming - said she has watched lamposts for 10 days now for nothing! hahahaha
  17. On NW Radar the heavy band of precipitation has now broken up! Bummer ! Fiona
  18. I think our best chance of snow tonight is it arriving later on so that the temperature drops before it gets here. I was just out shopping in Chippenham and the temp was 5C! Fiona
  19. As I suspected, half that front band of precipitation just disappeared off the radar ! I'll have to wait for another hour before I can lampost watch again <sighs> Fiona
  20. According to the NW Extra radar the snow should be over us now but keeps disappearing! LOL Maybe we can take it in turns to do the lampost watching because that is what I am now resorting to! Fiona
  21. I am allegedly under that leading band of precipitation right now and there is nothing happening quite frankly - now it seems to be breaking up as well unfortunately. I personally don't believe it exists. If things change here then of course i'll let you all know as soon as it happens. Fiona
  22. I was just able to change my signature block so maybe it is working now. Paul said on another thread that he has limited the functions of the forum (including locations etc) until they add another new server tomorrow. Fiona
  23. Not sure if this is the right thread for my location as I haven't posted on here before, however as it seems to be the one with not much happening I'm assuming i'm in the right place. Just wanted to say to you all that on the Netweather Extra radar there is a mass of snow just heading south west as we speak - has anyone got any snow as a result of it? Fiona
  24. Exceptionally heavy snow here in Melksham (SN12). Over an inch has fallen in just 30 minutes here.
