  1. Is it just me or is anyone else surprised that even though there is a WNW wind on Sunday that according to the GFS snow showers won't make it as far across as Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire?

I have seen snow showers come through the Cheshire gap and reach Leicestershire quite a few times in North Westerlys but the GFS seems to think it will stay bone dry here even though there is a deep low pressure system not far away

I think both counties have been fairly unlucky with this easterly for snow. The showers either just missed us or died out the further inland they came and never made it.

Not seen a single flake today <_<

  2. Just watched BBC News 24 weather and there was no real mention of any snow for the Midlands up to Wednesday. So the past winters that were about to hit us with FREEZING temps :) has decided not to knock at the UK's door?

Every time I have looked at the ensembles 850's the carrot of -8 -10 air is 5 days away and never arrives.

It like watching ground hog day only without Andie MacDowell in it :D

Although I admit it's only mid December :yahoo:

  3. I can't see how people in the Midlands can moan about a rain to snow event rather than a full-blown snow event? You're still likely to see snow, which is more than I can say down here. In fact the precip will probably die before we get anything noteworthy with snow in it on Tuesday morning

Oh I'm not moaning. Just want it to be a huge dumping

I will post you some

  4. Just posted this on the model discussion thread but its more applicable here.

A trend is emerging from the models especially the UKMO to track this LP further N.

Now this could change and to be honest anyone N of the M4 and away from the E coast is at risk. However I expect the BBC forecasts to change somewhat tomorrow and will move this risk of snow further N. I also expect the BBC forecasts to change for the Midlands with the precip starting as rain but turning to snow during Monday night rather than starting as snow. However in the area I highlighted it could start and remain as snow especially on higher ground.

If I had the money I would book myself into a B&B in Buxton, Derbyshire to witness an almighty blizzard!

Thats pretty much what they said at 22:30, rain first then snow for the midlands

  5. I looked at the Meto one, a moderate intensity band with Nottingham's name on it was my opinion! Let's wait and see, eh? :(

Just started here so this must be it, the big one You will see it in about 2 minutes :)

Just wanted to say I haven't abandoned this thread as im keeping a close eye on things at the moment as I don't want to mislead anyone.

Shall be posting shortly after i've had my bacon butties. :)

Send one over. This model watching is hungry work :)
