Looks like Nottingham will get a direct hit from the heavier precip, will it be rain or snow ?
I will; let you know
-
Has anyone got anything yet?!?! lol
Neither...
Looking like north Notts may get some! I can see some pink heading our way on the met office radar
-
I only reckon on 30-40 minutes of snow for Nottingham at best
-
What ever happens Nottingham will miss out. I am sure there is a ring of patio heaters around the county...
-
Right guys, plenty to look forward to over the coming days for us in the Midlands. Quiet tonight, but what could be interesting is how low the temps may get tonight. What do you reckon?
I reckon on -5 for north Nottingham.

Is it just me or is anyone else surprised that even though there is a WNW wind on Sunday that according to the GFS snow showers won't make it as far across as Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire?
I have seen snow showers come through the Cheshire gap and reach Leicestershire quite a few times in North Westerlys but the GFS seems to think it will stay bone dry here even though there is a deep low pressure system not far away
I think both counties have been fairly unlucky with this easterly for snow. The showers either just missed us or died out the further inland they came and never made it.
Not seen a single flake today <_<
-
I totally agree with you- same for Nottingham, I reckon we might get a few flurries blowing in the wind, but about 10 miles east of us will get snow. I'd bet on it!
There always seem to be a hole over Nottingham on the snow maps

Well, I feel a little blue this morning.
Seems a bit far feched when veiwing the model output!
Blue is cold so may be your feeling a little orange...

Just watched BBC News 24 weather and there was no real mention of any snow for the Midlands up to Wednesday. So the past winters that were about to hit us with FREEZING temps has decided not to knock at the UK's door?
Every time I have looked at the ensembles 850's the carrot of -8 -10 air is 5 days away and never arrives.
It like watching ground hog day only without Andie MacDowell in it
Although I admit it's only mid December

Hi all,
Looks like the winds are stronger on this run over the top of the high over Finland. May be the colder air will come down with a bit more zing
-
I can't see how people in the Midlands can moan about a rain to snow event rather than a full-blown snow event? You're still likely to see snow, which is more than I can say down here. In fact the precip will probably die before we get anything noteworthy with snow in it on Tuesday morning
Oh I'm not moaning. Just want it to be a huge dumping
I will post you some

Just posted this on the model discussion thread but its more applicable here.
A trend is emerging from the models especially the UKMO to track this LP further N.
Now this could change and to be honest anyone N of the M4 and away from the E coast is at risk. However I expect the BBC forecasts to change somewhat tomorrow and will move this risk of snow further N. I also expect the BBC forecasts to change for the Midlands with the precip starting as rain but turning to snow during Monday night rather than starting as snow. However in the area I highlighted it could start and remain as snow especially on higher ground.
If I had the money I would book myself into a B&B in Buxton, Derbyshire to witness an almighty blizzard!
Thats pretty much what they said at 22:30, rain first then snow for the midlands
-
BBC Weather at 10:30 seemed to have a lot of rain before any possible snow arrives and even then it looks limited. I think the low is too high (if that makes sense)for the east midlands

Just has a really heavy shower here in Arnold. A car went up the road and it's tracks were covered in less than a minute B)
-
snow-rain-sleet and now currently snow here in north Nottingham
-
What do you expect them to do? Invest 100 million in ways to deal with a 10, 15 or even 20 year event. Or spend that money on schools, hospitals and other services?
Its just not worth the investment
Having said that running out of grit is unforgivable
-
I think there is around 2-3 inches in Nottingham. Although it's still coming down.
-
I looked at the Meto one, a moderate intensity band with Nottingham's name on it was my opinion! Let's wait and see, eh?
Just started here so this must be it, the big one You will see it in about 2 minutes
Just wanted to say I haven't abandoned this thread as im keeping a close eye on things at the moment as I don't want to mislead anyone.Shall be posting shortly after i've had my bacon butties.
Send one over. This model watching is hungry work
-
Looking at the radar it looks like Nottingham will see a heavy shower around 8pm...
Or it may just miss us
-
Just been out with the kids. Brill!!
Thats what it's all about, I felt about 8 years old again.
Even my 8 years old looked at me funny when I started to make snow angels
If we get between the 10-30cm predicited
-
Cool! Which area?
I just put the bin out - it's falling thick and fast out there, accumulating on the road and pavement too, I got covered!
Arnold. Only a few miles from you...
-
Just had a quick lampost watch and can confirm it is snowing in Lenton!
Yep. Same here
-
I would guess that with the £42m frozen in Icelandic bank accounts, Nottingham City Council can't afford to grit the roads!
Very quiet here, not seen so much as a flake for quite a bit.
I don't think it will be long. I live north of Arnold and the sky is very dark to my east.
Although I know it's getting dark
-
Hi folks,
To say there's weather warnings in most places I have not seen many gritters around. In fact I have not seen one today!
Anyone else?
Very suprised at that...
