shall i stop being excited then?
Nah, I have higher expectations than you . If it's not a whiteout I'll probably find something to be disappointed about . So stay excited, the snow is coming it may just be weaker than everywhere else.
-
oh doooooooooooon't
I'm a natural snow pessimist, that and I much prefer easterly convections because westerly fronts have a habit of weakening before they get this far east.
-
Not liking the front's leading edge weakening as it plows east, could end up with a damp squib of an event out here if the back edge doesn't come through in the early hours of the morning.
-
Is it getting heavier where you are. Here by Gunton Cliff it's coming down quite thick.
I'm right by the river and it's not got much heavier, must still be winding it;s way to me.
-
Still snowing here, now looking quite pretty. If it keeps up like this we won't need that Atlantic front to drop snow as we are getting it all from the North Sea.
It's not very heavy though, we need a proper pasting not this light dusting we have now. Which isn't on the radar yet.
-
At the rate the light snow is coming down, it might settle if it snowed like this non-stop for the next 10 years. It's abysmally light, just small insignificant flakes coming down gently and evaporating.
-
What would that be I see... Would it be light snow I see with mine own eyes? I believe it is, the radar missed this little gift.
-
I'm going to disregard point 1 MK as I'm due a pasting after the last two major snow events gave Lowestoft a wide berth.
-
ha lol i shall never move from the computer ever again..........
Helps if you have a window and lampost right by you too, just so you have all the bases covered.
-
thats great too thanks
I'd open another tab for http://www.buienradar.nl/ just as well, you can never have enough radars.
-
thank you, i shall be staring at that all night now.....
http://www.sat24.com is good for seeing what sort of precip is coming off the continent too. Best open a tab for that.
-
I'd look at the NW radar if I was you
Radar doesn't have the graupel hitting Lowestoft on it.
-
Dewpoint has jumped from -0.7 to 1.1 here, some light graupel falling. Nothing worth bragging about.
-
Come on front get kicked 100 miles further East, you know you want to.
-
The Peterborough snow-shield has collapsed, next up is Norwich and hopefully our snow-shield succombs.
-
yeah it does for a change lol i live in hope anyway
i really hope we are! would be nice to see some snow at last lol are u sure your not going to get any?
Yea, we Lowestoftians are pretty certain there's a low chance of snow for us. It happened last winter and the winter before that etc etc.
Fax charts corroborate it too.
-
So it looks as though Lowestoft might get 2-5cm of snow over the weekend. Not very much you might think but it's still 2-5cm more than we got last year.
I'd wait until closer to the event to be sure of it, no-one is certain where the front will end up.
-
I have returned..............I didn't see anything............
Ah, well nor did I, so we're both out of luck.
-
And one for the least? I say Peterborough (or Lowestoft going by Etched Chaos' posts! )
Our snow-shield is strongest, especially during a westerly front.
-
MK that snow chart you posted had Lowestoft as one of few places not pasted in snow. Damn fronts never get this far east, give me a proper Easterly with convection, none of this Westerly front hitting cold air baloney, that's for those lucky sod's west of here.
-
I just need to get out of Lowestoft! Every time there is an easterly we are warned that the east coast is going to get a good pasting of snow. However come the event itself it usually happens 20-30 miles inland. I guess there is such a thing as being too far east!
I've got my eyes on the radar just hoping that some precipitation crops up a little farther south tonight.
The grass is not always greener. I used to live in North Herts, then I lived in Cheltenham and finally in Lowestoft and everytime I think I'm moving to a better snow place and what happens my last home gets pasted. This East Coast thing bugs me the most though, 20 miles furth North and I'd have much more luck. That Feb '09 snowfall everyone waxes lyrical about, was a dull barely a dusting time for us. Don;t get me started on last Winter either, I swear the weather was messing with us on purpose then.

@Ian Suffolk
Now at this point I'd expect somebody to say 'right that's it I'm moving to Boston!' - could be anywhere though. Happens every year on one thread or another \o/
Boston!? Pfft, give me Svarlbard or Newfoundland.

*steps into the East Anglia party*
Hey guys! Don't hog all the fun! Seriously though, what rate of precipitation are you guys seeing? Here in Northern Lincs its just been the occasional very-light flurry.
If you live outside Lowestoft, Norwich and Peterborough you'll see a bit I reckon, however if you do live inside those places, it's bone dry. Unless of course you luck out with the one snow cloud within 10 miles.
-
LOL...Really you look like that through the other 3 seasons Have faith....Change your pic. COME ON.
I'm a true coldie, I'm miserable if it's not freezing and there's no blizzards. As for my pic, not likely to be changed to anything but something I've designed , I hate pictures of me, absolutely hate them, this is the least hated picture I have.

Here's a good way to figure it all out. I want blizzards so anything negative from me would be positive for everyone else .
