  1. The photographs you did manage to capture are still very good considering the difficult conditions that you encountered on the chase.

Hope you have some better luck as you move into the texas panhandle, hopefully you'll be encountering LP supercells this time that are not rain wrapped and very photogenic :)

Looking forward too and waiting in anticipation to see pauls video of the anvil crawling lightning from chaseday 1 :)

    Keep safe though guys. :)

  2. Oh my days, i've seen this footage on the TV before on satelitte. Close escapes or some wierd program.

I'd seriuosly like to know what that guy was on, you just don't stand at your window with a camcorder filming a 2 tornadoes, then after getting hit by lightning simply stand up and proclaim " Urghhhhh, I got Struck! " then carry on filming the damn thing until the debris destroys your motor home and knocks you unconsious! LMAO :)

Do you think that was the real life cletus from the simpsons by any chance??? ROFL :)

  3. Light snow again here in MIlton Keynes. Been on and off since 12pm. Not thinking we will see alot as the main band of heavier precipitation is northwest of here. According to lookeast weather it should be raining here. very odd as all it's done is snow and people further west with higher elevation are reporting rain not snow... Think i'm lucky today or the poolution from the city is messing the clouds up. lol

Oh wait for it, getting heavier but the flakes are smaller. ( Igot myself a snizzle blizzard! ) lol

  4. How far are you from reading?? Meant to be travelling there tomorow for the Reading v Mighty Villa!! I hope its not too bad there.

But what im experiencing here means that i might not make it anyway, its that heavy, 4.5 inches now and growing very quickly!!

Im in north east bucks, sandwiched between northants / bedfordshire borders. Reading is a fair few miles from milton keynes, aboout 35-40 i'd think.

  5. Well after finally heading off to bed @ 9am and getting a few hrs sleep. I've awoken to a winter wonderland, was told it didn't stop snowing here until nearly 2pm, got easily 5 inches of lying snow and very little melt. Only problem is the wind has driven the powdery snow into my sky dish and now i got no TV :yahoo:

  6. Has anyone noticed how the 00z gfs is way behind schedule, unless of course the front stalls over the areas its over right now for a few hours. Because the 6z-12z ppn totals are high and lie straight across where the ppn is right now. Perhaps it will stall and even rotate a bit more bringing the heavy stuff fractionally to my north back into play for me.

Looks like it is going to stall all day in a line from north wales all the way down to the south east, gradually petering out during the afternoon. Thats what has just been said by louise lear on BBC breakfast weather :unknw:

  7. Started/been throwing it down for 20 mins now. Roads already covered with a couple of cms. Think I may be in one of the favoured spots tonight in the Chilterns.

Had to get up - rare event for my kids in this country - saw more snow when we lived in South Africa (until now I woud think).

Halton (about 5 miles east of Aylesbury - for easier ID)

    Bucks

    201m asl

Awesome, glad to hear theres snow in aylesbury. Can't be to far from milton keynes now, 5-10miles minimum. I'm about half your altitude @ 98m ASL. Looking good for a good fall if your reporting that much at your height :drinks:

  8. It's oncourse as predicted by the MET Office. Those of you who keep complaining just be a little patient hey! :unknw:

I'm pretty sure your gonna see snow in the west midlands. :unknw: probably starting anout 4am at this pace, although the precipitation has picked up pace in the last 30mins according to the MET radar. Probably down to the band encroaching into the lowest temeratures. You have also got to take into account the anti clockwise rotation of the low pressure center, the front will look like it's going to twist back on itself and give the appearance that it's stalling. The london area up through towards my location should be watching the band coming from the nothern france coast. Thats where our snow will come from lateron tonight into tommorrow morning. :D

  9. I'm gonna be heading of to bed around 9pm tonight, just so i can set the alarm for 3 am to get up and watch the major snow event in the pool of dank mild dross winters... Plus i get to build a snowman and make my mark before the neighbours awaken to utter chaos.

On a more technical note. Things are looking very very good synoptically. Everything i've been saying for over a week is now starting to fall into place. Keep watching the high over scandinavia build and keep the cold pool of air feeding into the UK.

I'm inclind to also think the beasterly isn't to far away, and tommorrows snowfall is going to be repeated frequently in the next 4 to 6 weeks.. The atlantic held at bay, any weather systems taking a southwards track along the channel and dropping copious ammounts of snow fall over the southern half of the UK.

Time to see how the UK's mild winter infostructure holds out in the sustained cold. :whistling:

  10. I'm still sticking with the UKMO charts. The 18z GFS is notoriuos for overdoing things when it comes to the breakdown of cold spells. I'd be inclined to watch the 00z and then the 06z GFS to see if they still differ from the 18z output.

I'm still going for the snow line to be: north wales, down through the midlands and onto the suffolk / essex border. Thats where i feel the most snow will fall and be lying. The MET must have a pretty good idea aswell as the BBC were mentioning heavy falls and disruption to the traffic system on thursday for the areas i just mentioned.
