OK. Breathing slowly, taking in all the available information, considering carefully the outcomes and locations, breathing slowly again, remaining clear and focussed, not swayed by latest model runs or charts, considering all discussion and rationally analysing it..............

London Weather on BBC didnt look to hopefull for the Guildford area
Starts snowing at 6pm Saturday, but back to rain by 2am Sunday,
Must admit I have never gone sledging in the dark before, but looks like I may have to Saturday evening or not at all !!!

Here in walton-on-the-Hill it's been snowing for over 2 hours and currently a thick covering on trees and ground, ummmm getting down the hill from work will be interesting later !!
I really should have picked up my snowchains from the garage !
Shame it won't last, latest radar looks like it's about to stop :-(

Storm getting going now, here in Walton-on-the-Hill (Nr Reigate) also son reported fork lightning at home in Cranleigh (south of Guildford) and major rain.
Also had a storm pass over Esher 30mins ago. Game On !!!!!!

Hi everyone,
Had quiet a beefy snow shower an hr ago, settled well until it moved away and what was left behind rapidly melted !!!
But looking at the radar there's still a few beefy showers to follow to the south of London, coming from the west, so fingers crossed we have a few more :-)

Moderate snow now falling in Walton-on-the-Hill Nr Reigate, surrey.
Huge flakes blowing in the wind, signs it may well settle, but looking at raintoday radar, its only going to be a shortlived shower :-(
Blizzard conditions now.........total whiteout !

Shame the snow did not make it 2 Guildford. I am not 2 worried but kids are moaning about it

Not much mind you but a dusting all the same. Looking at the radar more to arrive shortly :-)

Here in Walton-on-the-Hill, nr Reigate, its been snowing hard for an hour now, blizzard conditions about 15mins ago ! Everything turning rapidly white, but just started to ease a little, although still snaowing fairly heavy :-)
Update : 2 hours on and it's still snowing heavy, been fairly constant since 10.30, but coming down hard again as I type, Cars, verges/roads starting to be covered ! If this carries on any longer I may get stuck here "on the hill" !!!

Morning all :-)
What a nice surprise this morning, expected a dusting and woken up to approx 2-3 inches of laying snow, topped up the 6inches still laying from last week !
Hubby decided to leave for work at 7am, and 10mins ago got a call to say he was stuck at the end of our road...son now gone prepared with shovel,carpet etc to help him get free !!
A neighbour put it in perspective..."is going out a life or death situation..if not why are you travelling" A good point I feel, so I'm staying here and am not even going to attempt the 28mile journey I normally face getting to work !!!

anyone in IOW / Southampton/ Portsmouth on here who can confirm what's falling from sky? Radar showing quiet a bit of activity there right now !

None of this seems to be showing up on the radar, so I guess there is ppn building ahead of the front...All good news I guess.
Thats what I can't make out, been watching the radar all day, nothing showing then step outside at 5pm, and there was the snow, at 1st thought it was just "blowing in the wind" so to speak, but this continued all 28miles home, and its def coming from the clouds !
www.raintoday.co.uk does now actually show this shower if you zoom in over Guildford though.

Hi all, left work in Reigate at 5pm, on route to home (just south of Guildford) and we had light snow all the way
still snowing lightly here at home at 6.15pm, so maybe a sign of things to come later tonight. Temp currently 0.4 and dropping. -
started to snow in guildford, very light flurries though, nothing serious. waiting on the big stuff to blow in from the east!!!
Hi, we're a few miles south of guildford and have had light snow for past hour (enough to give a slight covering) and it's just started to get alot heavier...look out of the window, its coming your way :lol: ...enjoy !

Here in cranleigh. just a few miles south of Guildford, it has snowed pretty much all night since 8.30pm. Hubby has just ventured out with his ruler, and we have 15cm/ approx 6 inches. Its still snowing hard and hopefully we're in for a bit more, as this low seems to be stuck right over us and doesn't appear to want to leave us....what a shame !

Here in Cranleigh (10miles south of guildford/10miles north of Horsham) its been snowing hard for last 30mins, also getting flashes of thundersnow !!!
Got a fair covering already of approx 1" and this is just the beginning .....stay safe everyone.

seems to be a small development forming around Epsom,surrey looking at the past 30 minutes. Can anybody confirm this?
Hi, I'm here in Walton-on-the-hill, approx 3 miles from Epsom,overlooking the M25, and skies are fairly clear here, with no signs of any snow :-( But let me know if you get anything in next hr or so, then maybe I can use this as an excuse to leave work early !!

here at work ( Nr Reigate, surrey ) we currently have freezing rain falling
however, still plenty of laying snow around and sheet ice, so not sure how long that will continue as it looks like its going to be all washed away if this rain continues :lol: soooooooo close to having a white xmas wonderland too !

quick update, sitting here near reigate, and we have in the last hr had some pretty heavy snow, in total had over an inch,topping up the still laying 3inches.... roads are a nightmare and being perched on a top on a hill, I'm not looking forward to driving down the hill to get home !!
Popped out 20mins ago and slid everywhere and even got totally stuck at one point, but now safely back at work, and I cant wait to go home !
Drive safely for all those about to venture out in this..
