Met office app gives me 18hrs of heavy snow tomorrow from 6am whereas BBC give sleet mostly. Who is going to be right??
-
Ooh doesn’t road salt lose its effectiveness at -10? That should cause some problems.
-
Quiet on here, says it all really. A few showers hitting the coast but fizzling out inland.
-
Plenty of winter left guys. Many big falls in March in years gone by.

I know weather forecasting isn’t an exact science in any way, but the forecasts for this period so far have been way over the top. The Euro 4 for yesterday was supposed to give us this elongated streamer with copious amounts of snow. 5mm we got. Then the amber warning from the met!
If it was a private business, surely they’d be fired for being so wrong?

Update from up’Norrrf Yorkshire way...
Pateley Bridge area of the Nidd Valley
lots of flurries though out the day, some small flake efforts some large flakes and persistent for maybe 30-45mins and one for maybe just over an hour (ish).all in all snowing all day on and off, beautiful to watch but... nothing really settling and staying
not complaining in any way, as it’s been super fun glancing out the window to see which of the different types of snow we had as the day progressed...
maybe more through the night...
maybe not...
What a great spot you live in. I remember going to How Stean Gorge and camping there in 1981 with the scouts, I was about 14 and loved it there. One day we climbed the three peaks and strolled though quiet villages while the royal wedding was on. It was fantastic being out in the beautiful landscape.

Looks like North Derbyshire should get some soon looking at the streamer off the coast.

I'm at the far east of the orange zone, I think it is going to be justified, reports of lorries getting stuck on Willingham hill, we are now getting waves of heavy dry snow which is drifting, the road was gritted twice last night but no tarmac to be seen. the land is not a white out yet as the wind is drifting most of the snow. BITTER in the wind when going to my wood pile.
It’s fizzling out here. Quite meh so far. They must know something. Let’s hope they’re right this time.

Woke up for a peep. Half expected a couple of inches but just a dusting. No intense streamer yet ? Is it coming soon?

Had a gander on the SE thread. Lots of talk of snow and a few inches but they are shy with their pics.

Anyone from Whitby NYM areas reporting snow? Looks more intense up there.

Drinking my coffee staring out onto damp drizzle. In 24 hrs time might be looking out to nice crisp snowfall. Fingers crossed!

So does that mean the colder air will arrive earlier than forecast on the Met/BBC apps?
-
Daft question but where is tomorrow’s front now? Is it over Europe or not yet materialised?
-
Snow chances receding now according to Met. Hopefully they’ll surprise us with a nice streamer like 2010!

If London gets a few inches from this..
the headlines will be capital grinds to a halt! Boris chairs Cobra meeting, army deployed etc.
