Snow now very light in Rotherham. Slight dusting on grass and cars. Those people thinking this is all a precursor to 2010, then I don't think there is much truth to that other than hope casting. I say that, hoping to be proved wrong
-
Snow still in Rotherham. Dandruff sized flakes.,
-
very light snow now in Rotherham
-
Snowing lightly here now
No snow in Rotherham yet.. Looking at the radar very light..
-
Convection looks to be dying out now. I have a feeling next week is going to be a bit of a let down to be honest. A lot of hype. In the end, the weather will do what the weather wants. Spend more time looking for the beginning / end of a cold spell than actually enjoying the cold spell and snow when it arrives.

what would it mean for us if it is a trough? sorry im new to all this lol
puddles here! typical
-
Just looking at the latest radar returns, and that's some organized ppn to the east, looks interesting to me,do we have a trough?
EH!!!
Yes, Raining
-
Wait for it... Its.....RAINING in Rotherham!
-
Thing I dont get, this cold spell is yes cold, but unless you live on the tops or up a big hill with elevation the best we can expect is rain or if lucky, sleet. I noticed the latest look north forecast showed the atlantic pushing a front through for thursday with rain preceeded by snow, so any accumilations soon washed away.

so has anyone got any ideas what might happen in good old yorkshire tonight?
Looking at the radar there seems to be something ahead of the storm system moving ENE towards Yorkshire. Will the Pennines kill this
Looking at the radar there seems to be something ahead of the storm system moving ENE towards Yorkshire. Will the Pennines kill this
Also looking at the radar the system looks like it will have cleared the south east coast fairly quickly

I don't often post here, but there are a lot of annoying wind up posts, people stating the obvious and others out there to just wind people up. Checking over on two the same is happening there, with not such a surprise, the same people!
Sorry for the moan,

Can we have a Yorkshire Thread?

Wonder If Rotherham Will catch a shower... here's hoping!
-
light snow has stopped now! what a shame!
was dying on the radar
-
Snowing here in rotherham south yorkshire, although metoffice radar shows that band dying out rapidly
-
We had one storm in rotherham south yorkshire this afternoon, frequent lightning and flash flooding on the local roads, and that's it!
Rubbish (how bad does that sound!)
Anyone recon anymore for today, or is that it for the next few weeks.
-
Dont understand this, coastal areas are getting pasted, but further inland where there is no modification its begining to rain, how does this happen?
-
Heavy Ice pellets now, rather strange weather this, Bit annoyed to be honest, got used to the melted snow, then it snows again, now looks like its turning to rain washing the 1 inch away we have had in the last hour. Typical
Im waiting for the front to push SW now, will it or wont it
-
The band will push SW, its gunna follow the PVA hence why we are getting rapid intensification constantly.
Ill be more technical, as the PVA pushes SW later the precip will move SW and intensify/build. With it fragmenting for us later on. So as the PVA pushes south west off the N SEA, the precip will sink SW with it
Is this wishfull thinking? I see absolutly no evidence on forecasts to state this is going to happen. Im interested though to what makes you think this will happen.
-
I just can't see how this is going to start moving south west, the front is south east, as it has all day. But I stand to be corrected, so will wath the radar with interest.
How long do you think south yorkshire will continue to see this?
-
that looks like its from that narrow band of precipitation showing on the radar from west of the humber down towards birmingham.
if my memory is correct swinton is near mexborough and at a fair height above sea level too.
Hiya, Yeah, just up the road from mexborough, Im not sure how far asl we are here, its stopped now, But I think your right, it was coming from that long spike, which seemed to be rather strange,
-
Snowing heavy here, Swinton, South yorkshire, Im sure this wasn't forecasted!
-
2-3 cm of fresh snow here after 6 hours of continuous light snow. Wind is increasing here too with a max' gust of 36 mph in the past hour.
Your lucky, to be honest it hasnt really been that bad all last week here, we never went over 3 inches here, which is a shame.

This time last night it was a whiteout.Tonight it's a washout
Its a persil night

Just had a glance at the model thread. Seems very downbeat on there. Is it true that the cold spell has been downgraded . Or is it just a south downgrade. Hope us in the north and East get a good dumping.
