  1. Nice. Belton hills early doors should do the job worst case!?....unless you are thinking wrong side of marginal here....
  2. Ouch. I knew it was bad here but that’s 36-38mm over me and Mr Sherman’s house.
  3. This has to be one of the wettest opening 2 week January periods ever. Think we’ve had around 50mm+ already. Doesn’t get much worse than this. Plenty more to come next 10 days as well by the looks of it
  4. I wouldn't say it's off. But some may see a brief spell of wet snow/sleet Saturday morning, before turning to rain, especially over hills. It's a bit like opening the Celebrations tub and only the Bounty chocolates remain. It's chocolate, but not what most of us would want! The Northerners have nicked all the Maltesers and Galaxy Caramel as per.
  5. Depends on where your bar is set really. I've only had a quick scan of the models and yes Saturday there is a small chance of a rain to snow to rain type situation. Only a small window though of a couple of hours in the morning. All very marginal mush. Mid-term I'm personally not seeing anything of note to get me excited from a cold/snow perspective. Toppling Azores ridges, mean winds from the West and wrong side of marginal stuff rolling in from the Atlantic, or a glancing cooler blow from the NW?.... Unless any of the more senior members on here can give me some hope otherwise?
  6. Nice to see Mark. But think you have taken a wrong turn. Only South Easterners with rain or boat pictures are allowed in this forum
  7. Don’t think it’s stopped raining for about 3 days here. Utterly depressing. Rinse and repeat of last week but warmer. Models look just as bad as well. Can we get a break in the next couple of weeks ??
  8. Am I the only one that thinks the ECM snow charts are as useful as a choccie teapot? Not sure I’ve ever seen it predict anything correctly. It would genuinely get a nowcast wrong
  9. Not sure why there are so many toys being thrown around in the MAD thread. This is playing out almost exactly as the METO long range has hinted. In short snow chances greater up North and hills, where as down South a wintry mix at best, certainly for the next 10 days at least. If we are going to go proper cold, with a proper chance of snow, I cant see it being before the last week of Jan, into the first week of February to be honest. The SSW after effects don't appear to be playing ball completely at the moment. Plenty of time for changes however, so far from Winter is over.
  10. Well. The MOD thread is absolute comedy gold this evening. Giving me a good chuckle
  11. Perfect. Love a slow descend into Narnia. As you say almost always this is the route to proper cold. Get that ground temp down ready for a blanket of the white stuff in a couple of weeks (or so)
  12. Finally a proper frost this morning on the Thames Riviera. A low of -3c. Probably the last frost for a while now as milder air creeps in. At least we don’t have the dreaded drip drip that northern members will be suffering this morning. So attention now turns to the last week of Jan or thereabouts. Probably a good time to take a bit of time off and recharge the batteries ready for winter proper arriving (hopefully) in 10-14 days, perhaps sooner if everything plays ball. Stay safe all and see you on the other side ??
  13. Some impressive temperature differences. +8c in the Scottish Western Isles and -4c at Stansted and a few other areas in EA/SE as the cold begins to filter away.
  14. A quick look at the poor motor outside tells me everything I need to know. It looks like the inside of a freezer.
  15. Yep. Was always the concern as you said earlier. Roll on end of the month when the N.Sea is almost at its coolest. Some -12 uppers would be nice as well.
