  6. Had light snow/graupel/rain most of the morning with grey skies. now the sun is out aidding convection and has given us 3 heavyish showers, each one better than before. Roll on tomorrow morning, ready to get the sledge out for an early start before it all melts!
  7. Snowed for a few hours from 08.30, with heavier bursts periodically.
  8. In case some members missed the programme, you can see it using the BBC iplayer on this link- The Jet Stream And Us BBC iPlayer Definitely a good watch for the newbies, I agree with the comments above regarding inaccuracies, however on the whole i thought it was one of the better docs regarding weather/climate change in the last while.
  9. I remember looking into this 2 years ago thinking I could link together some interesting points, regarding possible changes of climate in the short and longer term...... my conclusions were I couldn't figure out where to start looking!! lol
  10. Sleet here in Leighton Buzzard, it's trying hard to snow
  11. Happy to go with sugegstions 1 and 2, not sure about 3 though.... Anyway feel it's going to be a game of 2 halfs, mild first then less mild, therefore my crystal ball is telling me 5.8
  12. Lol, I packed the family into the car at 12.30 and drove all the way to Buxton...... snow everywhere; very picturesque!! Just got back to Leighton Buzzard after driving there and turning straight back. As soon as we're 10 mins away from the house. it's snowing heavily!! Ohh well £25 quid of petrol down a drain just to see some flakes, when i could of stayed here and saw some!!
  13. Hmmmm, guess it's going to be a dry mild winter by their reckoning. Why couldn't that of been the case for summer, and to have a cold wet winter forecasted. I'm sure most people like a proper summer and a proper winter, it's getting to the point that any month has a chance of being the warmest, and that we can expect to see bedding plants in December and leaves falling off trees in May in the future me thinks!!!
  14. The BBC website is mentioning reports of mini-tornados (i hate that term) BBC website Has any NW member seen any of these reported sightings?
  15. Roger, if you have a mouse with a scroll wheel, hold down the Ctrl button on the bottom left of your keyboard and scroll forwards and backwards to increase or decrease the text size; it's better than a magnifier!!
  16. Well it seems that's 2 organisations that have gone for an active atlantic hurricane season, according to this bbc news article BBC Website. Will be interesting to see what the NOAA suggests shortly. With La Nina kicking in fairly quickly, it should allow for a much more active season compared to last year, but will it be anything like the record season of 2005????? What's everyones thoughts on this years hurricane season?
  17. I'm a fool for being late, 9.1 please
  18. Looking good for my prediction of 7.1, i think it will increase by 0.1 by Saturday!!
  19. Snowed fairly heavily from 4.45 to 8.45, 2cm covering everywhere. All melted now, except in the edges of the garden.
  20. Interesting view through double glazing patio doors, either that or the camera has had too many beers!
