Here in Piccadilly it was dry till lunchtime today then a couple of light showers blown in the wind. The radar did show a line of heavy showers just north of here but I missed them narrowly.
It will likely turn wetter here too as the wind turns more westerly.
Really heavy with the rain bouncing on the street! Just heard thunder !
I like that the wind dropped when the showers arrived. I don't like fast moving showers so much.
The showers to the east are clearing northwards, the shower to the southwest of Manchester will also miss me to the west.
Oh well, at least tonight i will sleep well without the heat.
Stunning cell towards Sheffield. Sadly I can't see Manchester getting anything this afternoon as the wind direction is pushing the best cells away. East of the Pennines is the place to be today
Some convection but the clouds are moving north/northeast rather fast. I think this set up will benefit the north Pennines, Yorkshire and northeast England later.
The sun is out now and hoping for ignition...
If the 6z Arpege is correct there should be heavy showers breaking out after 3pm. The 0z euro4 didn't look as promising though.
Brief but sharp shower here. The sky looks lovely and interesting after several days of nothingness.
More showers coming from north Mids and northeast Wales.
Check the euro 4, aperge etc. They have the first thundery band reaching northwest England around midday and then as this moves north/northeast, further cells develop over us as well as northeast Wales and North Mids.
After the early excitement comes a bit of boredom! Dry air from the Sahara is going to inhibit tropical development for a while.

Areas in the southern parts of the region need to watch the showers in the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire are. Hopefully it will develop as it moves westwards.
