  4. Saw an article about that dam and possible evacuations earlier in the week Shugs. Glad to hear it's stopped raining for now at least.
  5. When was the last time you heard or saw a Turtle Dove?. For me it must be at least 3 years since I heard one calling.

  7. Sounds as though it could be brown rot or another fungus. It can spread from plum or apple trees and is carried by our old friend the wasp mainly. Remove all infected fruit from tree and ground and dispose of but not on the compost heap. Give the tree a good feed early in the year say about Feb as this makes the tree healthy and able to fight infection better. As far as I know there is no chemical spray to cure it. Congratulations on your tomato crop.
  8. Have to agree with you there Nick. Strange really that they call them mini tornadoes when the media usually hype up weather events. I just sent the BBC website my comments about the use of the term Mini in Tornado reports.

  10. Why do they have to say mini tornado. A tornado is a tornado surely. It can't have been that small looking at the destruction caused and the sad loss of life.
  11. Someone setting off distress flares maybe?
  12. Not what I would class as a true storm but at least we have some thunder.
  13. This one looks a lot like it http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criter...FY&DOY=19m7
  14. If you want a good book to identify wild flowers, The wild flower key by Francis Rose is excellent once you get the hang of the layout. ISBN# 0 7232 2419 6
  15. More rumbles of thunder and very dark here. Still only moderate rain so far. Torrential rain for a few minutes.
  16. Plenty of thunder and lightning here at the moment but rain is fairly light. Plus first power cut of the day just happened.
  17. Some people will post, not just on this thread to cause arguments intentionally or as a wind up. Being polite about someone else's opinion costs nothing.
  18. I wonder how long it will be before it becomes an exclusion on life policies.
  19. Seen quite a few Bumbles about but only one honey Bee and thankfully very few wasps.
  20. One of the stones is really a person . Nice contrast to the shot cookie.
