Seems like ages since I've had a chance to photograph some decent daytime weather so I was well pleased when this storm came along yesterday. Funny thing is I nearly didn't bother going after it at all. Couldn't face the rush hour traffic to get to my viewing spot and didn't know at the time how spectacular it would be! Glad I decided to bite the bullet and go have a look.
The cell didnt produce that much lightning, probably about 1-2 strikes per min max but the structure was amazing, specially with it lit up brownish yellow by the low sun behind it. Been a while since I've got a gust front and a rainbow in one shot too! Rainfall was pretty heavy accoring to radar but I managed to stay out of the worst of it as the core drifted just North of Norwich.
Apart from a bit of tweaking to bring out more dynamic range (seriously difficult shooting conditions hence some big old 'blown out' parts in some photos) the scenes are pretty much how they were to the eye. Really spectacular sight!
