  1. Woke up monday morning and was dissapointed with only light snow falling but by 6:30 already had a covering of 2-3inches. I've been to school everyday of this week . Monday a few people were off but Thursday was the day when nearly the whole school was empty. Thursday morning everyone was told to go to the refectory where we waited for the headmaster, he came and told us there would be no point in going home because all the roads are blocked. He was right, just after he finished a car skidded into the wall outside school. Snow fell heavily until they eventually had to close the school at 2 pm. Still, Everyone got a hot chocolate at break time, best schoolday ever, we did no work LOL.

The cold spell has been great so far, but only reached a max of 4-5 inches of snow which was reduced to 2cm by the end of Friday. Friday did finish with a great sunset though. Hope you like the pics.

  2. I was up watching Tv on the 21st August early on about 4:37 and I saw my glass of water ripple for about 5 seconds along with my lamp shade swaying very slightley. I thought it was just me but I just went on the british geological survey website I saw that there had been a 1.5 magnitude earthquake 1/4 mile from my village. I also felt 2.8 magnitude earthquake on the 5th April. There have been many small aftershocks from the main quake on the 27th Feb but there was a lull in activity after April 8th with near nothing. Why in July and August has the activity picked up again? Are these separate events or are they still related to the main quake?

  3. I was out today taking photos of a sun halo when I saw a large cat sat under a rock next to the small lake outside my village. I thought it was a domestic cat which was lost but when I went to see if it had a collar on it bit my hand and scratched my neck/face. It also gave out a growl like a tractor starting up. The cat then leaped up and ran into the bushes. I had an agonising 3/4 mile walk back to my house, where my dad put some cream on my hand and face. Then a wasp stung me on the same hand leaving in its sting giving me even more pain. Its hard to type now because my hand is so painfull and my finger is swollen.

I've looked on the internet for pics of the large looking cat. It was sandy red/yellow with ears pointing up. I found a dead rodent, the same size of a rat lying dead from where it was sitting. The only cat I've found that looks remotely like the one I saw was on this site.

I just hope I never encounter one again but if I do I'll try and get a picture without getting too close. The picture is after the cream so the redness and swelling is alot less than when I was first bit.

  4. The morning rainfall caused flooding near my house and it got to the point where it was starting to come under the door but a bit of kitchen roll and a hair dryer sorted it out. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TqcztJGWiko Had an evening lightning display over the Trent valley yesterday providing some great shots on video. Altogether my area saw 3 thunderstorms but the first two were pathetic with only 1 or2 flashes between them.
