  1. I looked out back about 5-10 minutes ago and had that heart-sinking feeling that I might have missed a funnel, because the sky looked absolutely evil and very turbulent. Grabbed my camera and ran off down the road, although nothing but some pics of the sky. I'll post them in a minute because they really do show how impressive that cell is! Anyone to my West, heads up!

hi, skies here in wincanton going very black, wind picking, fingers crossed

  2. A good line of heavy showers/downpours developing over Somerset & edging ENE through Dorset into Wiltshire then onto Berkshire. This line has been going since it first developed at around 09.30 and some of the showers have had approaching 100mm per hour rate at times.

Here in Westbury we're just catching the Northern edge of them, so only a few sharp showers so far, but there does appear to be a further line developing North of here. What this means for me is a great sky watching afternoon B) .

Tomorrow looks to be different with trough arriving in the early hours meaning showers around from the off rather than developing once daytime heating begins (as happened today). Another difference will be the more W'ly wind instead of WSW/SW, this should help a number of showers break out over the Bristol Channel & run along the M4 corridor unlike today.

im right in line of these heavy showers, no thunder just loads of rain

  3. If you look at the radar the convergence zone stretches from Somerset right towards the London area.

There has been around half an inch of rain just 5ish miles South of here this afternoon (see BA13 on NW Radar postcode zoom) while we've had just 0.5mm from the edge drizzle/brief sharp showers.

As a result we have mostly cloudy conditions with occasional sunny spells while it's still mostly sunny to the North!

hi andy we have been in that line of showers BA9 on radar and another on way, really heavy downpours but no thunder :)
