Is the snow good where you are? Thinking of a quick walk in the Mendips.
A good couple of inches here, not dripping yet but it doesn't feel that cold out there so expect a thaw during the day.

Well I'll be damned, woke up to 2 inches of snow here. Nothing at all when I looked out at 4am, didn't expect anything when I got up so lovely surprise. Still snowing but radar says it's nearly passed through already. Anyone know whether it is supposed to pivot and come across again?

If we get anything close to Feb 2019, all of you will be able to hear me shrieking.
In the 20 years of living here, all our best snow has been in February, several deep falls in that month - best of all February 2009. Can't find any pics of 2009, (on a disc somewhere downloaded from a dead computer) but these are from 2019. Can't see tomorrow coming close to this but I'm hopeful at some point in February we should get a good dumping.

Morning, grey and murky here this morning, not a glimmer of frost. The comedy flailing on the deck of me and the dogs after going out to the garden revealed it's actually sheet ice out there. Looks wet, not frozen, caught all of us out; ever seen a spaniel with all four legs splayed out trying to stop sliding? His face was a picture of WTF!

Having looked at the radar earlier and seeing what was happening oop North I thought I'd pop my head in the regional thread. Not sure I should have done that, I used to live in Harrogate, now wishing I still did. Jammy beggers.

I used to live in Harrogate, looking at those pics makes me wish I still did. Enjoy!

Afternoon, just popping in to say it's snowing here, only lightly but it's all snow, nothing sleety about it.

Morning campers, it was a starry, starry night when I went to bed, with a bit of a sparkle on the grass. Woken to one of my favourite types of morning, blinking cold, fog and wonder of wonders, a hoare frost. Literally everything is coated in white sparkles, it looks beautiful. Hoare frost is even rarer than snow around here and is definitely the next best thing to snow in winter.

Morning, sharp frost here and snow flurries, nothing to get excited about but pretty to see.

Evening all, snowing well here, best snow so far. Everything is already turning white, keeping everything crossed that the showers up country hit this area too. Fingers crossed we all get to see something.

Just had a look at the radar, it seems like it's quite a narrow band skirting across this area. The METO have us down as having something (either sleet/snow) until well into the evening but that looks impossible from the radar. Anyone know if there's more to follow behind this current band? There's much more ooop north at the mo, is that supposed to work its way down here?
-
Afternoon, the band has reached here now, it's coming down as all snow here, big flakes, but quite light. Haven't looked at the radar to check but going by the intensity of it, I'd say we're probably on the edge of what's coming in.
We're just over 650ft high here so I'm guessing height is playing a role in currently getting snow instead of sleet/rain.

Morning all, woke to what looked like a damp day but a slippery walk up the garden revealed we had had a sub zero night again, this time ice instead of white and frosty. Just checked METO forecast, says we've got 80% chance of heavy snow late afternoon/evening, can't say that I'm convinced. It's cold here but that's under clear blue sky, don't think it's cold enough to sustain the chill when the cloud rolls in, expecting rain or sleet at best. Happy to be proved wrong though.

Still snowing here, albeit tiny flakes. At this rate I think it would take until Easter to have enough for a snowman.

That's not very New Year spirit
come on ,send over a cold shot from your neck of the woods.
I'd blow it over but fear I'd melt it.

Yeah it’s changed over now, although temps are still below freezing
rapid thaw of the frost now
Proper snow here, no sign of thawing either. Got nothing against Frome, my daughter lives there, but you can keep your mild wedge thank you.

I've been blowing bubbles, it's not quite cold enough to entirely freeze a big bubble before it pops, the ring of ice crystals on the big bubble is about as far as I can get them before surface tension breaks. I did manage to get a tiny one to freeze last night, it's still there and now covered in ice crystals too.

Morning and a Happy New Year from a very frosty Somerset, we might not have snow but everything is very white here. Just stood outside to take a couple of pics, didn't notice the frost had stuck my slippers to the ground, they stayed put, I didn't.....bare feet on a frosty deck, definitely wide awake now Always amazed how spiky frost crystals are.
