  1. A belter of a visit from the Merry Dancers last night.
  2. MAJOR SPACE WEATHER ALERT: The planetary K-index has reached a level of 8. A severe G4-class geomagnetic storm is in progress. Updates: Spaceweather.com Massive auroral storm underway.
  3. SPACE WEATHER ALERT: The planetary K-index has reached a level of 7. A strong G3-class geomagnetic storm is in progress. Updates: Spaceweather.com
  4. Wintry mix (not a fan of that description) for the past couple of hours. Has turned more to wet snow over the past hour and starting to stick. Currently 0.5°C/0°C.
  5. An inch or two by dawn this morning but since then it has been drip, drip, drip in some early sunshine. Now 9.1C after an overnight low of 0.4C. Bring on the next round of action on Monday and Tuesday.
  6. Overnight minimum of -8.1°C here and another bright start to the day. Cracking wee cauld spell.
  7. Slight frost overnight. Quiet weather. Feeling springlike during the daytime, but I doubt winter is done with us yet. The odd clear night has been welcome. Took some snaps of the 'Green' comet and M51.
  8. Changing my entry for the month to 3.5C and 56.5mm please in the hope that the Beast actually shows up this winter...
  9. A Guid New Year tae ane an a fae Comrie. Big snaw for the Flambeaux! All the very best for 2023, kilters.
  10. Another pop-up snowfall overnight giving a decent covering. Temp currently 0.3°C and now raining. Roads a total state again.
  11. Steady snow for several hours here now. 2" (5cm) on the level and still going strong. Currently -0.1°C/-1°C after an overnight low of -2.7°C. Happy Snowy Christmas Tuesday, kilters!
  12. Merry Christmas, fellow kilters. Hope Santa was good to you all. A mildish and fairly non-descript Crimbo Day weatherwise here with a few rain showeres on and off during the day. Then turned colder overnight, with an air frost. Awoke to a dusting of snow followed by a further couple of wet snow showers this morning, the latter of which turned sleetier. It's been cold and bright since. Temp currently 1.2°C and on the way down again. Happy Boxing!
  13. Looking ahead, after a further whumphing on Sunday, a mild snap for a few days and then it looks very much like a form of 'cold zonality' over the Crimbo hols. We could do well even with a more westerly component in the mix. Looking even further ahead, the form horse has been 'stuck' weather patterns for quite some time. So, rinse and repeat of variations of the cold theme onwards into January, February... and so on. 1978-79 redux anyone?
  14. Three ice days this week, a lowest minimum of -10.1C and now, finally, the whumphing has arrived. Around 4 inches (so far) on the level. Still sub-zero and still snowing, too.
  15. Prediction: -23C to be reached - maybe breached - in either Braemar or Altnaharra last third of Dec and/or first third of Jan. Outside chance of a new all-time minimum record being set.
