Another attempt at wet snaw overnight, but it turned back to yet mair sleety p1sh - which has kept on going up until now, giving the sum total of 7.2mm since 9pm last night.

After a promising start earlier on today, the snaw turned to 'naw' and so far has deposited 6.3mm of cauld, vaguely sleety p1sh through the afternoon and evening; it's having a good go at wrecking the remaining snowcrete from the falls back in mid-January. Currently 1.1°C/1°C and unutterably foul oot.

Unexpected and decent dusting of snaw overnight. Gently thawing away now. Currently 1.9°C/1.0°C, slight breeze and some blue sky showing.

Snaw came back on a bit before lunchtime today - and stayed on. Another couple of cm added. Now lighter and a bit sleetier. Currently 0.1°C/0°C and a bit of the drip, drip, drip on the go.

Bodes well for Thursday. Nothing especially mild in the outlook. Below average to cauld looks the form horse.

Coldest night of the winter (so far) here: -8.1°C and everything rock solid frozen. Day 12 of snowcover. Impressive duration by the cauld this year - and it's not over yet. Not by a long way. Currently, -4.0°C. Bright and brisk.

WInter proper has finally delivered here today: snaw started around noon today and has kept falling since. Nothing especially heavy and very still, too. 

Level snaw circa 2 inches (so far) and an ice day as well (min -2.5C; max 0.0C). Looking good for a bit of a whumphing by the morning.

The proverbial 'damp squid' overnight here. Something fell and the slush it left behind then froze solid. Ice everywhere. Snowcover a bit patchier. Overnight low of -2.1°C and currently hovering just below freezing point. Still looking cauld for the foreseeable.

First lying snaw of the winter this morning. Lovely and bright now. Currently 0.2°C/0°C so a gentle thaw on the go. Air pressure reading 963mb. Looking forward to a decent cauld spell into the New Year and beyond... Good luck for more snaw later on, kilters.

Merry Christmas, fellow kilters. Hope you managed to make the best of it yesterday and that Santa was good to you all.

It was a seasonal start to Christmas Day here, with a decent frost after an overnight low of -2.5°C. Gradually turned cloudier and milder throughout the big day, though it stayed mainly dry.

It's Boxing Day Bella out there now though - pretty foul. Looking ahead to later on, it starts turning colder again overnight and then, let the fun and games begin...

A quick scan of the models this morning and it's looking on the cold side through to Ne'er Day and beyond - and then, perhaps a SSW on the way. Latest Met Office long range update reads about as cold and wintry as they ever get, so that January could be very special.

Enjoy the 'Daft Days' in the run-up to Hogmanay and I hope that you all see some of the white stuff. Bring on the snaw and wax the sledges!

Just dipped into the TOORPing palace of varieties to catch up on the latest model output and chat.

A fair bit of 'stella', 'screaming potential', etc on the go. Of course, it's never 'nailded on' whilst it's still in 'F1', but to these ageing eyes, this winter is looking different from the last several (BFTE in 2018 excepted). PV remains in flip-flops and t-shirt (ie a wintry shambles), the immediate pre and post-Crimbo synoptics are not without interest into the New Year and GloSea is apparently predicting a SSW, which could, perhaps, possibly, maybe...

Hello, fellow kilters. Am back from estivation. 

Great to see all the snaw snaps and reports of thundersnaw as well - fab start to winter proper. 

And welcome back @LomondSnowstorm as well. 

Nothing snawwise to report here this time. Just cauld, squally rain after an early overnight low of -3.2C. 

Hopefully, this early snowfall bodes well for the months ahead - have clocked that the PV isn't looking its usual organised self this winter...more of a wintry shambles so far.
