While I was down on the beach in front of my house yesterday afternoon, I noticed some guys surveying the sea defences, and the beach levels.
They were using theodolites, and lots of new fangled laser level equipment.
Being a nosey cow I asked one of them what they were doing.
He said that due to the rise in sea level the long shore drift of the shingle beds had pushed the beach level up by more than 60cm in the last year.
So they were calculating how high the defences needed to be, or if there was any point in undertaking the necessary work.
I had been wondering why I could now just step over the sea wall onto the beach. We used to have to walk down about 10 concrete steps.
I get the feeling this global warming stuff is going to start affecting peoples lives a lot quicker than we think.
If anyone's interested in knowing the area I'm talking about, it's the North Beach part of North Lowestoft.

I promise this is the last one.
This is a photograph I took on the beach in front of my house of "Gulliver", the massive wind turbine that dominates the skyline of Lowestoft.
Congratulations to everyone that posted their photographs in here, there are some really nice ones.

Sorry I didn't realise.
Don't know how to remove them, could one of the admin people take all my pictures off.
Many thanks.

I've now deleted my photographs.

Diane, you're limited to 3 entries in the photo comp. This was brought in because of the overwhelming number of photos people had to look through in order to pick their top 5

Another of the showers from the North Sea which this time is more "sleet streamer."
My house looks out over the North Sea, and the weather has changed completly from first thing this morning.
It was quite mild, and clear. Now the wind has really built up, the clouds are racing in, and its started to snow.

Lowestoft, Suffolk. The Most Easterly Town In The UK.
Very mild. No frost
Wind from the east.
I think the met office got our weather badly wrong today

Been snowing here in Lowestoft for most of the morning.
Stopped long enough for me to pop down to the beach
to take this photograph.
I was gutted that someone had put the "No Swimming" sign up, I was looking forward to a refreshing dip in the North Sea.

Just went down to the beach in front of my house.
This North East wind is really kicking the sea up today.
Took this photograph at 11.48 this morning.
Ended up getting rather wet, and very cold.
Too dangerous to hang around there after that.
This things I'll do just to try and win something.
By the time I took the second pic I knew it was time
to start running.

So far this morning in Lowestoft we've had about an hour of snow, then
rain, now hail stones as big as, hail stones.

Lowestoft, Suffolk
Bitterly cold.
I took this photograph from my garden at 08.30
Then the snow began to fall.

Lowestoft Suffolk.
11.13am
Bitterly cold north easterly wind. The first northerly this winter.
I now realise why the house I bought right on the cliffs
facing the North Sea was so cheap.

A photograph I took at Somerleyton, which is a few miles from where I live in Lowestoft.
Temperature really started to drop rapidly as I was taking this pic of the sunset.

Looks like the residents of North Suffolk will get the most snow tomorrow.
My business uses the Met Office "Open Road" road weather forecast package.
After receiving our text updates from there, we have already called our customers to tell them that we won't be making
any deliveries tomorrow.
