  1. Current shower here now turning to snow.
  2. Looking on the bright side. This is still a better start to winter than the last 2 years (possibly 3 years...can't remember what happened December 2011!). For here anyway...don't think I can speak for everyone as I think some of you had an OK start to December 2012.
  3. Showers have finally reached here. And it's rain. Just been up Beacon Hill in Sedgley with the dog. Quite a bit of slushy snow cover up there with people attempting to sledge on it!
  4. No we're not. It's just gloomy.
  5. So those showers are of rain are they? It is time to get rid of 2014.
  6. I don't think you'll see too much of a thaw. Highs will only be 2 or 3 degrees. There are showers heading this way too but they are weakening as they push inland. I think you'll keep most of your snow as we go through today. Like you told me yesterday, the ground is cold enough.
  7. Off to bed now. No chance of anything tonight now. Let's be honest, for us here in the Black Country and Brum, that event was a fitting end to one of the most abysmal years for snow I have ever known. Good riddance 2014 snow events!
  8. Oi! I'm not that negative! There's far worse than me on here!
  9. A few flakes floating around in the wind. So now conditions are right...can we have our precipitation back please? We got it wrong first time!
  10. The 20th was a pleasant surprise here. It was meant to be a south east event but we lucked into it. That whole fortnight was a decent cold spell. As for current backbuilding around North Wales...I'm not getting too excited. I think we're done to be honest. We're coming onto the back of the low now...so skies should clear and temperatures should plummet. It's going to be very tricky indeed in the morning for all of us.
  11. Except that came on the back of the 18th and the 20th so it wasn't so disappointing. But you're right, very similar.
  12. ...and as the final echo from the radar comes through...it is turning back to snow but it's too late for here.
  13. I think it's time to throw in the towel here in the Black Country now. There's not anything of note on the radar for us as some heavy stuff skims our north through Staffordshire. The snow was amazing through late afternoon but this evening has just been a huge let down. So mixed feelings. Could have been a lot worse but left with the feeling that something quite decent was taken away from us. Until next time...
  14. I hope you're right...I really do, but I can't see a sudden shift south even as it pivots. We are running out of time. It has been a lot better than anything last winter and the next few days should give us some clear, beautiful and frosty weather. Best enjoy it as the models are pointing at the Atlantic coming back for the New Year but that's too far away to worry about right now!
  15. Sadly, we are running out of precipitation now.
  16. Wind has definitely changed more easterly as rain hitting bedroom window now. Getting a bit foggy here too.
  17. How we're keeping our snow cover with this rain I do not know!
  18. As long as you're holding at that temperature we know we'll be alright later on. You're very lucky though, we're getting mild sectored! Not a big one but it's enough. Still raining here. Not a hint of wintryness now.
  19. Have you managed to keep it all snow up there while the precipitation was falling? Sometimes the 20 miles between us can make all the difference. Quite a lengthy dry gap by the looks of it...then could be a little bit of something interesting later again. Certainly going to be very icy by morning though.
  20. Raining quite a bit out there now.
  21. Obviously! Although I do remember being overly pessimistic about that snow event and I admit I got it completely wrong that time! But it's these events where we learn isn't it?
  22. You've got a good memory! I get it wrong all of the time mate, but it's fun trying to figure it out! I only say what I think I'm seeing and I rarely see it correctly! I probably do use rain today too much but hey ho. Drizzle here now anyway.
  23. Please excuse me if I look a bit thick...and by all means have a go at me...but is that precipitation near the north Welsh coast now heading southeast?
  24. Where's it going to come from? The radar isn't looking that great for here for much more. Not being argumentative by the way....it's a genuine question because there's a real good chance I've missed something! And I hope I have!
