richie3846 ok , not going to get in a debate over it , I’ve had several air frosts in my location over the last few weeks, so yes it’s been cold but not unprecedented
In Absence of True Seasons or perhaps the Seaweed will forecast better
-
richie3846 there’s been an air frost in Benson , south Oxfordshire a number of times lately including this week. I certainly would call that the south….

I personally don’t think the grape industry will flourish in time to come, assuming what our climate will be in the future is simply a fools game . Nobody knows , that’s all we know

MP-R more to come as well. Where’s the expanding Hadley cell

Rain All Night too many charts for my liking . Sorry. Just complicates things in my eyes anyway….

richie3846 it's a long time since I recorded only 7c/45f at this time of year as a maximum, so yes it's more exceptional to the norm, not unprecedented ,yes ,but doesn't happen every year ,yes April is a fickle month. April 2008 for instance had a good four inches of snow here ,that was about early mid April time , came overnight and was all gone by mid afternoon! And yes the day it snowed like that it reached 12c/54f . But todays cold and damp greyness puts more of an exceptional feel to this time in April.......
-
richie3846 yes ,but this is exceptional and doesn't happen every spring, not for many years...!
-
richie3846 to be honest, it's worse than a January day ,many of them warmer than now, being outside in this is rubbish anytime of year, but if it were a January day ,you would except it as being what it is for the time of year, but late April ,your expectations are a lot higher ,than what they are in January, 7c this time of year stinks knowing that it should be at least twice that just to get something close to an average temperature!

Well ,7.2c here, overcast with light patchy rain. It has to be said that temperature of 7.2 c for a max temperature which is likely to be the high today here ,unless the sun pops out later ,is not a record low for a maximum daytime temperature for late April , but not far off!,,,! Had warmer days in the winter

alexjclark to be honest, I always look at the synoptic charts like the gfs/ecm , UKV chart viewer. I don't use weather apps , because there a waste of time and pay little if any attention to tv forecasts etc. If I would want a precip forecast say for instance for a couple days ahead ,I would use the UKV chart viewer. It goes to two days ahead, and the its 03z and 15z runs go to five days ahead. It's high resolution, but sometimes like all other models ,woefully wrong, but I think it's the best we have got ......!Anyway ,hope that helps ☺

Stratus clouds and drizzle, my most hated type of weather !

alexjclark it looks at the moment a very sketchy forecast ,because models have not got a handling on the develop of low pressure, IE, exact position and how deep the low pressure will be! Looks to be showery rather than frontal rain, but to be honest, best you can do is keep an eye on the developing situation every day this week ,could well be that we get a lot of dry weather ,rather than a washout, ! ☺ Best of luck. ...!

. Meanwhile a large high develops over mainland Europe bringing most of the continent a early heatwave. Let's hope this isn't the pattern for summer.
Really can't see what you mean by that ! Looks changeable for southwestern parts in picticular in the next ten days, and even stretching ahead in the silly time frame of gfs, no picticular settled spell for southern Europe. Anyway ,with northern blocking still persistent and showing up right through the time frames, can't see any thing too hot for Europe at the moment. The gfs/ecm shows low pressure influencing the uk next weekend, but the ecm has much more of a flabby low compared to the gfs , hope there both wrong and we don't get a direct hit !

TwisterGirl81 well ,hoping Ecms output is correct! Ive had enough of looking at low pressure, fronts, whether ,warm/cold/ occluded , 200 mph + jet stream ripping across the country at 30,000 feet, tight isobars and enough of depressions to make me depressed! And fed up with looking at the rainfall radar, and completely Pxxxxd off with emptying my rain guage, which is on the brink of plastic fatigue! Just want some ridges now ,Ecm please ....?
